I'M THINKING OF BUYING MY SUNCREAM AND AFTERSUN AND SOME HEAVIER TOILETRIES (SHAMPOO, SHOWER GEL ETC ) IN BOOTS IN THE AIRPORT AND PUT THEM IN OUR HAND LUGGAGE. WE ARE A FAMILY OF FOUR AND WE ARE GOING FOR 2WEEKS, SO THEY DO TEND TO WEIGH A BIT.HAS ANYONE DONE IT THIS WAY?

I agree with Trace, as the Boots in departures at Manchester is not terribly well stocked.
However, my daughter did it that way last year, and she managed fine with what she was able to purchase, and it did save her a fair bit of space and weight in her case.
Like me she doesn't take much hand luggage these days.

My experience (Newcastle Airport) is that they have plenty of stock of the basic essentials - they always have plenty of their own brand suncreams and as far as I recall have a variety of shampoos/conditioners etc.
We are thinking of doing exactly the same ourselves this year. If there is anything we cannot get we will just get it in Corfu.

To be honest - I don't buy new products for holidays.
I never use full bottles of product (except shower gel), even over a fortnight, and feel it is a waste to throw any unused extras away. (No, I don't leave them in rooms for maids to have to clean up lol).
In the weeks and days leading up to a holiday, I keep part used bottles of various products that I'll need, and take them instead. Perfectly measured amountd of course lol!
That way there's never any waste and you're not carrying any additional weight in your case on the way out.
Also, as they take up a fair bit of space on the way out, after you've finished with them you then have plenty space in your cases to bring your chosen goodies home from Corfu!
Sorted!

I wouldnt think you have to put it in your hand luggage if you're buying it after security - you can just take it on the plane in a Boots carrier. The only time I have 'come undone' doing this, is when we had a really early flight and Boots (at Birmingham) opened about 10 minutes before we had to board, and there was such a huge queue I didnt have time to shop!

Hi Trace - yes, but if you look around on the plane, there are always people with 'proper' hand luggage as well as duty free bags with booze, w.h. smith bags with books, newspapers etc
