I used to live in Viros, stayed there for over nine years (all year round). Before finally buying a home in Sinarades.
It is a wonderful traditional village and the people are lovely, very friendly. Stamatis is the famous taverna at the top of the hill in Viros. It is best to book if you want to eat there at weekends and holy days as it gets packed. It has been in existance since 1965 and Spiros and Maggie are great hosts. The food and home made wine are wonderful.
There are a couple of kafenions on the way up the hill too, and there are spit grills and shops at the bottom of the hill in Vrioni. It is a good area to use as a base as it is central for all the main roads to explore corfu. There is also a bus service two or three times a day to town.
It is quite a good area for shopping if you go down to the bottom of the hill, with shops all the way to the airport. There are two shops which sell top quality Italian clothes and shoes for next to nothing. Enjoy!
