So say, Lawrence, but I am a bit sceptical about where the money goes!  I think one of the most stupid parts of the Carbon Tax business is that companies can "BUY" carbon points from other companies if they exceed their allotted emmision targets, and those companies who are within their targets can "SELL" their points - I believe that's how it's supposed to work, but I reckon it makes a complete nonsense about the whole emmission/carbon footprint business .

Please, J and L, "Ultimately it is down to governments to get the courage to impose controls on all of us"!!!   Has not Britain already far, far too much Big Brother "1984" direction, almost Gestapo-style surveillance, S.S.-form direction, what is verging on a police-state?   Is it not time that people banded to say, "Enough is enough.   There has been far too much erosion of individual freedom?" Besides politicians are seldom qualified to make dispassionate judgements; they are far too concerned with their personal image and following the party line.   For that matter, they are also often ignorant of basics.

Simply.......this is why we are in Corfu I can have a fag whenever / wherever I want . The only carbon footprint I leave is when I tread in the ash from the bush fires .

We have a solar system in our ' spiti ' . The air exhaled after a few to many metaxas might send the mozzies loopy , but that is payback time ...lol

John we'll make you  Mayor of Kass yet.

I too am serious about this but take for example John's solar powered system. It works, saves fuel and it will pay for itself. Why don't we all have one or have roof tiles with inbuilt solar panels installed. Possibly because it takes 12 years minimum to repay the cost in the UK. Why are solar and wind grant's in the UK inaccesible, why aren't we all driving Gee Wizz style electric cars for short journeys. Too much trouble or too much money? The oil supply reached it's peak years ago,we can and must find greener and cheaper alternatives but can not leave it to the Government it's not in their interest. We need to lobby manufacturers to restrict the profit in their industry and supply closer to  cost, using fitters with restricted prices! Alternatively we can pay ever increasing fuel prices.

Our boilers [ electric ] have not switched on since March this year , every thing is working solar at the moment , waiting for them to kick in and start to cost us ...
