XL.com cutting more flights?

I was having a quick look at prices for 2008 flights with XL.com (as I use my Tesco vouchers) and although I MAY be wrong and perhaps their web site was not 100% accurate yesterday it does appear that:

  • They are not flying to Corfu from Stanstead next year
  • They are not starting their flights until May 23rd and ending them on October 1st - cutting the season even shorter than this year!


If anybody can clarify this or has any inforamtion I would be pleased to hear it!

Living in Stevenage, Gatwick is a bit of a treck and getting flights from Stanstead has been ideal.

At the moment is sadly looks as though this is indeed the case

Hopefully things will change, but I doubt it.....

We're struggling to get flights for this October, as XL finish up at the end of September now (so the remaining companies have bumped up their prices), and as for next year.......there's isn't a flight out of Glasgow before the 26th May

Sad but true it seems Jo. XL seem to only want to run flights when there is more of a guarantee of them being full; be a problem for those working out there for the season as well if less flights in October.

That answers some questions Trace...was trying to plan ahead and couldn't get a flight to come up for May on their site but Flightline were selling May XL flights!

Hi Jo,

I can confirm that for 2008 they have dropped the Friday flight from Newcastle but still appear to have the Monday flight.  Whilst we have not had any probs with them over the last 2-3 years the tales by other CTG members has rather put us off booking with them next year.   We go to Corfu in June normally so don't have the May & October problems that lots of you have - good luck!

They're on Airflights as well now....along with a some Thomas Cook flights. Still no Thomson until 2nd week in June though

I wouldn't give up hope yet that they will have more flights available, from previous experience I  believe that XL will still be negotiating with the airports for next year.  Last year we were not able to book the flights from Newcastle for June this year until October last year which was when XL had reached an agreement with the airport.

I wonder if it may have anything to do with the fact that come next year the Greek airports will be privatised!! which may and i say may allow in a few other airlines as well, we can live in hope.
