I was under the impression that local shops taverna's and restaurants asked the hoteliers how many guests they had booked in for October, and depending which tour operator was used for each hotel  the business people  knew when tourists where arriving and departing and would also  know how many in number.I do know our apartments are fully booked the weeks we are in San Stefanos in Oct as I am sure many others are.If I am incorrect I am sure someone will let me know.

Sorry to disagree with Peter, but you will always be able to find easily anything you want up to the end of October.   After that some of the specifically tourist areas close down, but the locals come out and the place stays awake.   Traffic in Corfu Town is just as bad.   Out of season is a good time for walking and Christmas on Corfu is fun.

Maybe you missed the very first reply to this thread, which said:

Hi sedgi, The weather can be changeable we have had some hot October days and also rain showers, it gets cool in the evenings so take a wrap/cardigan/jacket.

Also, I have to agree with ocay's post that, while some of the shops may close down during October, guests should still be able to find a couple of tavernas or supermarkets open - with plenty of goods to choose from - right up to the end of October.  Maybe you could give a bit more information about where you were thinking of that apparently turns into a ghost town while there are still tourists around.

Hi all,

I'm thinking of going to Arillas on 15 October for a week - will everything still be open in this resort while I am out there?  I need to be somewhere where there are things to do!

Thanks!

Hi sedgi,

In Sidari I believe that you will find several restaurants open, some all week, others just weekends. Sailors have said they'll be open. The Chinese place (Chinese Palace) is open Fri/Sat/Sun as is teh Indian (name escapes me) Romanos is alo sopen all week. Go onto Peroulades and you will find both Tavernas open.
