I'm kicking this thread off again, purely as I have not long been back and took the advice of Purrypuss and others and bought Vit B tablets (Holland & Barrett) for the first time. I started two weeks before going as advised and continued through my trip. I also used Boots tropical lotion daily - again based on advice from CTG Members.

Result? Same as Frenchie. NOT BITTEN ONCE!!!!!!

Usually they are queing-up waiting for me as I get off the plane!! As I've been there this month which was reckoned to be one of the worst of the year, and others I met were being bitten I'm obviously delighted that I've returned 'bite-free'!!!

I'm still taking them, as the mozzies seem to be more virulent in the UK this year!

Thanks Purrypuss and everyone else for the advice!

David

Sorry folks,

I was one that always recommended the vitamin B1 too, but this year, even after taking them religiously for weeks before heading to Corfu, I did still got bitten.

Only four bites to be fair, which for me isn't too bad. Problem is that I reacted much worse to the bites this year than any other year.

David (hubby) also followed the same regime and had a considerable number of bites (aquired mainly during daytime he suspected), but fortunately didn't react badly to any of them, so they weren't too much of a nuisance.

I still have the bites now, and we've been back a week

I give up lol!

Pity I missed you when I was there. I did look out for you!

I think it must be the Celtic blood they like - being of Irish descent no matter what I take or use the little blighters bite chunks out of me home and away and Mic suffers the same, although his clear up quicker than mine I have only just got rid of the marks from our visit at the end of September!!

When in Kassiopi we were in Angevine on the harbour and up at the Dimas pool bar (also with fab harbour views).

Also in No7 (pitta gyros place) on the square and around the shops......

We popped into Kassiopi three times, to withdraw money from the atm (even though none of them were working one day lol).

Just realised - 10th October we were down at Agni taverna for a meze lunch (in the rain)! Typical eh!

Glad you had a lovely time David xx

Oh well Cath, looks like we're destined to be eaten alive then!

Still wouldn't put me off visiting Corfu, and other areas in Greece

Just back from Crete.  Took my antihistamines for a week before we left home.  Went armed with suntan lotion with mozzie repellant, aftersun with repellant, boots tropical repellant, autan, and plug in for the room BUT not a mosquito to be seen!  Stopped using all the stuff after 3 days.

Much as i love Corfu it was great to go away and not be bitten once!
