I always give a tip when using a taxi to and from the airport, I just wondered what the correct procedure is regarding this. What do you all usually do ?

Hi Cathy,The answer is nothing! For some reason all the taxi drivers in the central region seem to be working from Corfu Town now.I was quoted 25 euros to go from Pelekas to Ag.Gordis.I know some of them as well ! They said it was because they have to come from town and then return. It's cheaper to hire a car and that's what i do now.Stevie.

in that case the tip i would give is to look both ways before they cross the road

Why do people assume you have to tip taxi drivers? Or anyone else for that matter.

They get paid to do their job like anyone else and that is what is on the meter or the fare you agree beforehand.

If they help in any other way that's not part of their job (e.g. carry lugagge, give directions, help etc.) then I'll give them a few euro extra.

As a greek, I strongly recomment everybody NOT to tip taxi drivers!

If you wish to give them a tip a couple of Euros would do it although I always hire a car its easier to see our Great Island

Is it rude to tip a Greek taxi driver? I always give a Euro extra (its only 5 Euro for our fare) but wont if its offensive.

I always tip a taxi driver on long journeys..because they have always carried our cases to the apartment for us..on a fare of �40 I would give them �5.... one year a Taxi driver came back and handed 200 cigarettes I had left in his cab and some loose change that had fallen out of my pocket to the Greek lady who had booked the taxi for me..and who flatly refused a tip from me for doing it the next time I saw him.

I usually tip them a couple of euros.
