Hi Emma,

There is no problem using travellers checks in Corfu. Apart from paying commission when you buy them, you will be charged a fee when you use them. The Nationwide account that I recomended you are liable to get a better rate of interest on your balance than your basic bank account.

By the way the inter bank rate that I mentioned is normally a couple of cents higher than tourist rates.

Yammas,  Colin.

I would personally take about £100 in Euro's, and £100ish in cash or Traveller's cheques. The Euro's so I would have some readily available spending money for taxi's etc. when I get off the plane ( in case the ATM's are not working ), and the cash ( or Traveller's cheques ) as a back-up if I lose my cards. Once there I'd just use my Nationwide debit/credit cards which are of course free at ATM's.

Horses for courses this really. I'm sure individuals have their own preferences, and priorities.

                                 Regards,

                                     FredF.

Hi Emma,

We have been going to Roda for a good number of years and it all depends what you want to do. I think what you are taking will be enough for yourself. We are a family of three and we try and work to a 100 euros a day and thats eating out for breakfast a snack for lunch and having a meal at night plus a few drinks too. Hope this helps you.

We are also in Roda for the last week in July and the first week ai August.

Thats about it. My Budget this year over 18 days will be 125 Euro's a day, excluding Car Hire.- Thats for 3 of us.

Having said that you can always have a couple of Days of Low spend eating Gyros and Chips

Also, another question, does anyone use travellers cheques out there????

Hi Emma-spaghetti

We use travellers cheques because there is no ATM in our chosen resort (Kalami) and we don't want to have to go to another resort when we need cash.  You'll be okay for ATMs in Roda.  We also take enough euros to get through the first couple of days so we don't have to worry about changing money as soon as we get there.

However you decide to take your money I hope you really enjoy spending it and have a great holiday.

Deedee
