Hi stephan

This was posted my Martyn_G in a different thread on drivng to Corfu.

so there is more time on the day of sailing than the Venice sailing, which is 13.00 hrs (I think) which means checking in at 10.00hrs.

The thread maybe of some help to u so i've posted the link below.

Hi,  I travel this route every year.  After driving through Europe the boat from Venice to Corfu is a great way to unwind.  Minoan Lines have office all through Europe and a websiet www.minoan.gr they also have an agen in London England Viamare - telephone number : 0207 431 4560 - they also have a website but I don't remember the address - sorry.

In January I flew Ryan Air from London Stanstead to Venice Treviso for 1p plus tax (return flights totalled £20.00) then took the coach from the airport, approx 45 mins (4 euro) to main bus terminal in Venice where I took the free bus Minoan Lines provide from the square to the ship.  Ryan Air's website provided good information about the destination airport.  They also advertise for the south of Italy.

The journey on the boat is approx 23 hours.

I hope the above is helpful.

Minoan Lines operates a reliable service from Venice to Corfu, and this summer the service will be daily with departures at 14:00. The ferries used on this route are all very good (built between 1997 and 2002), fast and safe. Of course it's better travelling with a cabin (there is a wide range of accomodation onboard) but remember to book in advance.

There should be a my article about this topic that is going to be published by our friend Hilary Paipeti on Corfiot Magazine.

I have a good collection of both internal and external shots of these vessels, if you are interested. Just ask me by email at miglio.daniele@libero.it

I just booked with Minoan from Venice to corfu. A bit pricey for a cabin but oh well. Can't wait. This will be my first time in Corfu.

Just to let you all know.  "Camping on Board" is not available any more, due to a new EEC Directive - so sleeping with your camper/caravan etc is a no go.  Some brochures still advertise this facility but double check before booking, as the price will go up if you book your camper and a cabin by quite a lot of money.    I asked in the Minoan office in Corfu Town and they confirmed this is now fact. !

Hi Jester.

Thank you very much for that important piece of advice. Quite a few visitors have been enquiring about ferry crossings to Corfu, and I have noticed when giving them links to look at, the mentioning of using your camper/caravan to sleep in. I would imagine something to do with Health and Safety legislation.

Thanks again and Best Wishes.

we travelled with minoen lines in 2002, its a great trip all 23hrs of it! best to book in advance tho, cos we rolled up at the port and nearlly didn't get on.

this got me thinking? what insurence do you require if u are taking a car from england through europe? do you need to get extra cover?

i think we may have done the round trip illegally....lol.
