Doesn't look promising - 5 days and no replies. Apparantly you pour the concentrate (about the size of a standard Minature) into an empty bottle, three quarter fill with Vodka, shake and then fill to the top. You can get it for a couple of pounds off eBay but add that to the cost of a bottle of Vodka it might be as cheap to buy a bottle of the real thing eh ?

Hi Silver-Fox

Wish I could help, but I am not sure what ouzo essence is.

Ouzo, the spirit, is of course diluted to taste with water, and often served with ice: very tasty it is too! Although I do know some people prefer to dilute with Sprite.

Any more information you can give about the essence would be interesting.

I took the plunge and got a bottle. It smells like very strong Ouzo so I let it down with some Smirnoff as instructed (donated by my Daughter) but it was a bit late for my Wife to try it so I'll let you know after tomorrow night.

All the times we've been to Greece and the Islands we've always drunk Ouzo, myself neat and her with ice and Lemonade but once we got home we'd hardly bother with it - Until this year when She got The Taste for some reason. Not only have we gone through the two bottles we brought back we've also borrowed the 2 bottles our friends brought back as well.

Not bad at all Gill says - Not 100% like the real thing but good enough. I don't know how much Smirnoff costs but the essence was only £2.18 delivered and I'd imagine it would be just as good mixed with a cheaper plonk type Vodka. You can buy real Ouzo in the UK or even have it shipped over from Corfu but the cheapest I saw cost around £18 or £19 delivered so if anyone sees any cheaper (and it doesn't contravene CTG rules) please PM me. 

So there you have it my friends. I can hear her snoring from here so I might try one myself.

I too have got the taste for Ouzo.  A friend of mine tried me on black ouzo,  Ouzo Cafe( or something like that).  It is a mixture of liqorice- hense the colour black and normal ouzo.  It is lush.  Just hope I can find it on Corfu in 4 days time as they bought if back from Rhodes.

Hi Debs - Have you noticed how some brands of ordinary Ouzo have a slight liquorice after-taste ? Specially when you drink it neat.

We'll be in Kos on the 1st so I'll have to look for some of the dark type
