I have been abroad only once as i always had a very bad fear of flying and last year i was very brave and flew for my first hols abroad to the Algarve staying in a lovely villa in Lagos i was most excited for the weather and getting a lovely tan but i must say that after lots of sunbathing not much of a tan happened!!!!!! People tell me that the weather in Corfu is much hotter than the Algarve and more chance of getting a good tan!! is this true ( i hope so) sunworshipper!!!!!!

Hi Hodgins,

Im very pleased you are going to corfu for your holidays this year, wherever you are going im sure you will have a lovely time, corfu is a very beautiful and interesting place.

As for getting a tan, corfu is a very hot island and if you are not careful all you will get is bad sunburn. If you want a nice tan the best way to get it is to take it slowly day by day, do not do what i have seen other people do and bake all day in the sun as soon as you get there with a very low factor sun cream on!! that way you will go home with less colour than you started with as your skin will just peel off!!. It also depends what skin type you are too hodgins, if you are fare skinned you are not likely to go home with a very dark tan, but whether your skin is olive toned or very pale, always use a very high factor sun protection, it doesnt stop you tanning, it just stops you from burning! make sure you re-apply religously and drink gallons of water too!!

Happy tanning!!

jo

Hi Hodgkins,

you don't say when you are going but you can expect the average temperature in Corfu to be higher in July than that in the Algarve by probably 5 degrees. By August the difference could be as much as 10 degrees centigrade or more.  Before then the average temperatures are probably similar - low 20's in May and mid 20's in June. Except last year when it was low 30's by the first week in May!

I remember it well.

The sea will also be much warmer.
