Hello,

Wonder if I could pick your brains on the best type of car to hire on Corfu?

We will be staying in Loustri, so need something easy to manuver around tight bends. There are 4 adult sized people plus plenty of luggage, and are expecting to do quite a bit of sightseeing.

Cheers me dears.

Alison

Hi Alison.

I take it you are not going to be carrying luggage all the time whilst on your holidays. However, with 4 adults I would suggest a reasonable size care. Take a look at the following web pages where you will find a list of cars (with photos) for your choice.

These are recommended car rental companies:

www.oceancar.gr         (Based in Gouvia)

www.topcars.gr            (Based in Corfu Town)

Both will deliver and collect from the airport. You can also look at various other message boards on this site referring to Car Rental, within this forum, General Corfu Holiday Questions.

Hope this helps you in finding the right car.

Regards

'four adult sized people'

Adults come in small medium and large too!

Last year, myself, my wife and her parents ( her parents are extra large ) hired a Hyundai atoz I think(or was it a daewoo matiz?) anyhoo,we managed with that no problem, it was pretty good on the tight bendy roads and managed pretty well carrying us up the hills ( when you turned the air-con off! )

I think anything smaller would have been unsuitable for us, but as I said it depends how big the adults are.

We always hire a Multipla from Ocean who also have an office in Corfu Town.  The car is very roomy, very stable on the road and has big windows so you get huge views.

Thanks everyone.

We are toying with the idea of a 7-seater mini-bus, but I am concerned it may be hard to drive on the winding roads.

Any opinions anyone

Hi

We have hired a Fiat Scudo (admittedly on Menorca) and I know Citroen do a similar (same) one.  They are like a minibus, and felt very well seated on the road if you know what I mean!  Lots of room too as they seat 8.

If you are thinking of an MPV I would advise against a Serena.  They feel high and narrow and quite frankly rather unbalanced at times on the winding roads.  Some of our journeys left me really scared, which is why we now always get a Multipla.
