Why not stay cheerful and relaxed all the way over to Corfu, have a great holiday, and then absolutely refuse to get on a plane to fly home? I am sure a local Greek doctor can be found to confirm that you have to stay here permanantly because of fear of flying.

It worked for me............

Hi Bobbo,

Can you believe that in the 8 years we've been coming to Gouvia we never had a meal there! We only go there to have a good time at the bar at night. Any dishes you can recommend? Would be great to bump in to you. Most probably i'll be the crazy blonde at the bar (if my mother allows me, haha)

Helen

Still on the airport thing.  Last year we flew to Corfu for the first time.  Couldnt land for ages because they said the ATC wouldnt let us land as they had too many already landing that morning, 11.00 a.m. (surely they would know from  the regular schedules how many were to be expected!) so we circled around for ages with our ears popping!  We then shot off to Brindisi Italy ( which took 1/2 hr) for refuelling, where it was raining (not a good start) then flew back to Corfu and landed with no problems - all in all in was a very long flight and hanging around for our bags watching the single carousel was the least of our worries!  Hope that doesnt happen this year!

oh dear me sounds like you all had a bad time on the planes nice to read about it all just to get my nerves going even more as my day of flight arrives. I have stopped watching "air crash investigation" at the moment. Only been on a plane once before and cried on take off cried even more when they had to abbort the take off due to technical problems then went back on the same plane and flew for 10 hours!!! scared eeeerrrrrrrrr YES!!!!!!!

Hi,

First off that is a short flight you should try 14hour 15 min that is London to Singapore then there is the flight to Manchester and if you add the waiting as well now that is a looooooooooong flight.  Having said that flying on a 747 Jumbo Jet is not like the small planes to Corfu so the flight tims don't seem as bad.

They do know how many planes are expected and many times planes fly around in circles waiting to land it's just the passengers don't know about it.

Most people are probably a bit nervous about flying, but it is worth it in the end.  I must admit, after reading these, I am going to ask the pilot Keith about flying to Corfu and see what he says - will let you all know.

Well - it appears that Corfu is a normal airfield meeting all of the international standards.  keith (the pilot) has flown into Corfu many times, from different directions, according to the wind, and its no more than that - normal.  His full reply is on the flying withoutfear site.  hope that helps those worried.  I will still be trying to drown out the aircraft sounds and avoiding looking out of the window, but its worth it all just to go to Corfu, isn't it.

Hi all,

Many years ago flew back from Kos to Gatwick. Flight was delayed due to bad weather at Gatwick. As we approached Gatwick, pilot said still very foggy, but was going to try to land. Plane started to drop, then at last minute, abruptly pulled up again. Pilot came on and said 'Well, couldn't see a thing that time, we'll have another go, if that fails we'll have to go to Stansted and bus you back' . On the second attempt you could hear a pin drop, but as we hit the tarmac there was spontaneous applause. Pilots eh?
