Hello

Is there a way of getting to Agni Taverna from Acharavi without hiring a car?

We are on holiday in June and have looked at this website so many times and it would be good to pay a visit.

Hi Firefly ,

Are you a good swimmer....lol....

Seriously , you could take a bus and be dropped off at the top of the road down to Agni . But it would be a fair old walk down , even worse coming back up as the road is very steep in places .

You could always try thumbing a lift down , I would stop if I was in a car and had enough seats to take hitchikers down , after all we are all on holiday and it doesn't cost anything to be friendly .

Regards.......J&H

How about a local bus to Kassiopi then hiring a small power boat for the afternoon to take you round to Agni bay in style?

I think the distance limits from Kassiopi will allow you to get as far as Agni anyway, if not I am sure someone will let me know my idea is a no-go!

There are also boat hire places in other NE resorts, so maybe these would be an option?

I dont think the prevailing winds from Kassiopi down to Agni make a safe option in the afternoon for a small hire craft....I think you may be alright going to Agni but I think you will have a problem getting back as all the boats we have hired tell you not to venture that way in the afternoon.

But if it is wrong I am sure someone will set you right,

Agni is well worth a visit - but might be a bit of a job -  maybe getting a bus to Kalami - early evening - and then walking down to the bay (not too far!) and going over to Agni by water taxi from Kalami Bay (they run every half an hour or so, I think). But you would probably only get back to where you're staying by getting a taxi - would imagine it would cost you about 20 euros.

If you go earlier in the day then you would get a bus each way but would be a fair bit of walking either way from the main road and back.  Best suggestion would be to hire a car.  One way or another, it's well worth a visit!

Thanks for all your suggestions.

I think a hire car looks like the best bet which is a shame, it means one of us can't touch the ouzo!!!  A power boat would have been nice, maybe we can look into that a little more.

When we stayed in Acharavi, we organised a taxi locally. It picked us up from our apartments and we  pre-agreed a time for it  to pick us up from the car park at Agni at the end of the evening. I am so sorry but I can't remember how much we paid at the time, but we booked through one of the travel agencies in Acharavi and pre-paid, which was really convenient.

Another option you could try, which we did once when we met up with Yvonne and Bob, was to get the taxi to San Stefanos, and then arrive at Agni in style by the Agni motorboat which picks up from there. Return journey as per my previous posting.

Hi,

We would love to go to Agni Taverna while we are there in May it sounds fantastic from what i have been reading on this site, but we are staying in Roda. I have looked at the map and it looks like it would be a hard slog with a 2 year old in tow. We are not planning on hireing a car so i get i will just have to make do with looking at the web cam.
