Corfu

Well it now looks like our three week trip over to Corfu at the tail end of the summer is pretty much sorted.

We'll be flying out to Corfu on September 18th and back home () on October 9th.

We are planning to spend our first few days "settling in", probably in Kassiopi or Ag Stef NE (people to see, things to do), we then plan to do a bit of touring for the next week/ten days and will spend the last week of the trip chilling out in Kalami.

For our touring days we're basically going to pack all our belongings into the car, wing it and visit villages and resorts we've never been to before and plan to stay the night anywhere we like the look of (we don't want to pre book anything).

Can you experts out there suggest possible places that would be perfect for this? We are going to venture to the south of the island as well..........

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

PS. Arillas is already on our list as we have friends we'd like to catch up with there!

Great idea Trace! You could drive south and stay a night in Corfu Town.Next day go to the Achillion Palace and then continue through Perama,Benitses,Mesonghi, Lefkimi and down to Kavos.Stop the night in Aspro Kavos then the next day go to Lake Korrision.Head up to Aghios Gordios for a couple of days.A day and night in Pelekas to see Kaisers Throne then up to Paleokastritsa and Belle Vista.Cross country to Mount Pantocrator and then home.Easy! You lucky devils!Stevie.

Hello Trace. Lots of places to visit down south but why don't you try stopping off at Hlomos. The views are fantastic. Stop off at Cafe Balis for a cool drink and also try the views from the church at the top. Best way is to criss cross going down south. Mesongi to St George south over the top takes you to Hlomos. Too many places to reel off but all worth a visit. Some beautiful sandy beaches but the pearl must be Issos which is backed by Lake Korission, a nature reserve. Just north of Issos is Halikounis beach another long stretch of sandy beach. On the east side of the island at Alykes are the salt flats and the museum, if its finished, may have run out of EU maoney, but still worth a try. As I say there are many places to try so good luck.

Charlie.

Many thanks for all your suggestions so far......it's fabulous that there are so many places/areas we've still to discover......at this rate we'll need to book for much longer than three weeks

Hi Trace and David.

I have given your planned "Grand Tour" some thought since you mentioned it in Weymouth, (this is the first time on line since then, no connection) And I think that Tor's idea is a good one. however perhaps for this year I would stick to Corfu, and if it works out well, concider a trip to the mainland for next year. I'd love to visit Zagoria and Metsovo. We just never seem to find the time. Like you too many people to see things to do.

Bob.
