Does anyone know of a large, cheap supermarket where we could stock up on things like water and cold drinks?  I will be in Corfu for 10 weeks from 16th June and this sort of thing always adds up.  My husband is with me and the kids for 1 month and during that time we will have access to a car so can shop anywhere.

Thanks,

Carolena

Isn't there a Lidl near Corfu town, Ill bet there cheaper than your regular Hypermarket.

Hi Carloina,

You might be able to get some very good deals from Lidl, Metro or the like. Remember you must hump it home to your accomodation. A local mini market or cava can often offer as good a deal and they are on your doorstep. Support your local shop & they will be there when you need them. Also check out their local produce, you could aquire some new tastes.

We shop at the local supermarkets every day for snacks, drinks etc. but as we are there for 10 weeks we need to look into bulk buying of 1 or 2 heavy items.  I don't waqnt to stock up on food, but one or two trips for water, pop etc. sounds like a good idea.

10 weeks on Corfu sounds just about perfect to me.

Ian has just posted a reply elsewhere about supermarkets.  He said:

"Depends where you are staying, where I am (NW) then there is big one outside Kavadades and then two on outskirts of Sidari (at crossroads to Roda); most people go in the one on Roda side because it is more 'Englishy', but cheapest is Diellas opposite.  There are also a couple of big ones in Acharavi."

Hi Carolena,as everyone has said there are plenty of cheap places to buy water and pop etc.If your kids do get desperate though there is an English supermarket in Perama, south of Corfu Town. They specialise in all English brands,Have a great stay,Stevie.

Thanks everyone for your replies.  We will have a look at a couple of the suggestions when we have a car.  We eat out every evening, and often for a snack lunch / brunch, however, we are on a pretty tight budget this year so want to save money where we can.

Hi Carolena,

There is a supermarket in Acharavi which is very reasonably priced.  We go there from Roda for a walk everyday, it is not massive but they do pack alot in.  It is in the centre of town right near a zebra crossing, you cannot miss it.

Regards, Pegasus.
