If you like a bowl of cereal on a morning it can be very expensive in the market. We usually take a couple of the variety 8 packs and a box of cereal bars. Not only does this give you a different breakfast every day but they are light to take and the room they leave in the case is ideal for presents, cigarettes, wine etc.

We always take a cooler bag with bacon and cheese and ham in. We also take asdas own noodles(9p a packet) we take cereal (we buy the big packs and take thebag of cereal out if the box and put it in the suitcase)  That way breakfast and lunch are taken care of all we have to buy are some fruit and tomatoes. which means we can eat out every night and the boys can play as much pool as they like and we dont have to worry about running out of money, we also have the cooler bag for the days we want to go out and take a picnic. xxx

Hi,

We take a small CD player and lots of CD's and have a couple of nights on the balcony - our own music, a bottle of wine (approx 3 euros) and some nibbles (brought from home). I can't think of anything more relaxing on a balmy Corfu evening. Oh bliss....

We only take a few things to spin the money out so that we can splash out on the main meal of the day which is evening time. Although most things are a little dearer the taste of their products (meats, cheese, butter)etc is slightly different and all adds up the flavour of the holiday. We dont want it to be too much like home do we!!!!!!!!

Great idea Mich&hel, but I don't know how you managed to get them to last so well on Kalami beach........we bought one two summers ago, and it punctured within two days
We were lucky I guess!  The year before we did have one burst on the first day we used it and then we put a towel underneath the next one and it lasted for the rest of the week - but last year the double airbed lasted the whole fortnight without a towel!  Worth a go, though, if you want to try and save bit.

Trace,

I didn't mention what size bottle... Lol..

I got one last year and it cost 3 euros for 2.5 litres!! Hubby said if it tastes awful we can disinfect the loo with it.!!

It was great especially after the first glass.

We were in Kassioppi.

On this point, would like to take the opportunity to thank anyone and everyone who has ever left something behind for the next visitor to use.

We have left airbeds and brollies and any unopened packs of food/drink for the next guest to use and others have done so for us.  The kids have enjoyed airbeds and rubber rings left behind and we have had the benefit of left behind unopened goods.  This generosity is a real money saver!  "pay it forward!"

I ran an office one summer for Thomsons and we often had departing guests bring stuff in so it could be offered to the next group of arrivals, so we had many very happy (and grateful) people who took advantage of these.  Often, they, in turn, would leave something else when they left.

Ther's a place in Kassioppi called COSMIC TRAVEL - they have boxes full of leftover stuff where you can help yourself to all kinds of things from shampoo, suntan lotion, cooking oil, salt, books - well almost anything, all they ask is you change some money, book a trip or leave behind your leftover stuff at the end of your hols.

There trips are very reasonable (cheaper than tour operators, and the exchange is good as well).
