Mmmmmmmmm

One of the real joys about travelling solo on a motorbike is that you get to meet all sorts of people, from all countries and backgrounds. (The bike, somehow, breaks down the barriers to discussion.) This is one of the reasons that I do it. The cumulative experience is shared and discussed with the consequence that we all become a greater sum of our parts (if you see what I mean).

For me(and Lynn) the journey has always been the most important part of a holiday. Yes, we've been visiting Corfu for many, many years, but our greatst pleasure is always meeting other people andlearning from them (both locals and other visitors). Against the context of the original posting, I guess my other pet hate would be those who visit with a completely closed mind.

Another thing that really gets my goat on holiday - When I am on hols I am always happy and cheery and say hi and smile at everyone I walk past, its just a habit, in fact I do it at home too.

But I really hate it when you smile and say hello to people and they just ignore you or give you a dirty/funny look, it makes me mad the way people can be soooo rude, it doesn't take much break half and smile or say hi.

Hi Natalie (Just to cheer you up )

The only thing that really annoys me is as has been mentioned, everyone rushing to get off the plane and knocking me out with whatever they're hauling out of the overhead lockers....

Oh no, there's one more thing - overheard this conversation in Kalami last year (be warned regular visitors, I can hear the pay phone from my apartment!) - 'There's absolutely no nightlife here, it's too quiet...' Read the brochure before you go and you'd know that you wouldn't like it !

What really annoyed me last year was a man who went into a shop, bought something & threw his coins onto the counter and very rudely asked the woman to sort it!

People who can't even be bothered to learn please or thank you in the language of the country they are visiting.

And like most of you say want a full english! lol I don't even want one in this country let alone another country!!!! After all isn't that why we go to different countries to experience their lifestyle.

Im posting again in defence of the FEB.  I own up - i sometimes do partake of the old Full English when on holiday (they do a good one in the Cocktails and Dreams in Kalami!) but thats because I rarely have one at home - and when I do its NEVER for breakfast!

To the people complaining about those who jump up on the plane - not all of us have the joys of the coach to look forward to.  To the independent traveller, the sooner you get off the plane, the sooner you get your taxi (carousel permitting lol) the sooner you get on the beach!

Seabubbles - Im afraid you dont have to go abroad to find such rudeness as that in a shop.  Its an everyday occurrence in this country.  And sometimes it goes much much further than just throwing  money on the counter, unfortunately.  I have colleagues who have been sworn at, threatened, and one was even threatened with a machete type thing (and no, I dont work in some run down inner city area)

I have to put my hands up aswell,to the FEB. Especially the one in The Beer Bucket in Kontokali. Really sets me up for the day.

One thing that does annoy me,is,when you are standing at the carousel awaiting your luggage. Then, you get shoved out of the way,so that the other person can make sure that they get their luggage.  Who's to say, that their luggage was going to come out first anyway. As it was,i ended up saying excuse me to the person that pushed me,as ours came out first. Just chill out. You are on holiday. The coaches won't go without you,and the taxi's know when the flights are coming in. Ok, in really busy periods, you may have to wait for a taxi. BUT,you have arrived in Corfu safely. Now just CHILL!

Well, I don't care what people eat, as long as they don't moan about the Greek food.  Regarding getting off the plane in a hurry, if you think it's annoying in Corfu, it's unbelievable in the US.  Why the airline can't let passengers off first who have connections, I don't know.  There is nothing more annoying than knowing that you are going to miss your next flight because some idiot in front stood up first and then spent ages messing about with the overhead bins!

Natalie you can smile at me and give me a cheery hello anytime - and I will do like wise.  But only when the wife isn't looking lol

It's those who, like in Shirley Valentine, say the trouble with Greece is, it's too Greek!  (T'ain't like spain - as someone said to me once ....arghhhh)

Seems I've opened up a cortina load of trouble here!
