First week in November will be stepping off cruise ship for one day.  We are senior active adults on budget.  Where is the action?

Hi Arnlov.

Firstly, welcome to the Corfu Travel Guide, we hope you enjoy the information provided.

As your on a one day visit to Corfu, and will be docking at Corfu Town, this appears to be the obvious place to venture. I would like to add at this time, that the official holiday season on Corfu ceases at the end of October, and indeed some of the more livelier resorts will have already shut down.

However, there is lots to see and do in the main town. Shops, where you can buy your souveniers, leather goods such as handbags, belts, wallets etc. There are plenty of places to enjoy a traditional Greek meal at one of the many tavernas/restaurants open.

You could visit the Old Fort of Corfu Town, have a stroll along the Liston, or take a seat and have a nice drink, and watch the world go by.

Please take a look at the links below, by clicking on them, to see and read more information on Corfu Town.

Hope this is of help to you.

Yammas, Chris.

Hi arnlov,

I spent the month of Sept. in Corfu and whilst I was there my brother & sister-in-law arrived in Corfu on a Silverseas Cruise but they only had 8 hours there. I went down to the ship to meet them and took them around Corfu Town as I know it reasonably well.

I noticed that coaches had been laid on for various tourist locations such as Paleocastritsa, Achilleon Palace and Mt. Pantokrator and also a shuttle coach to take passengers to Corfu Town and back. As Sailor says the tourist season finishes at the end of October so the places I mentioned above may not be viable.

I think that your best option would be to stay in Corfu Town as there is plenty to see, not sure about all the shops and restaurants being open though. I am sure that the ship will provide you with maps and info. about Corfu Town. The Old Fortress is well worth a visit followed by a drink and meal at the restaurants on the Liston which I am sure will be open. If you are on a budget, as you say you are, beware of the prices on the Liston as they can be quite high as it is the IN place to be. Some where down the back streets might suit you better.

The Shuttle bus from the ship dropped us off at Old Fortress and back to the ship for free so cutting out the need for a taxi. Different cruise companies have different ways of doing things. If there are no buses laid on taxis are not too dear but ask the price first.

Have a nice cruise........Alecko.
