What we worry about are the staff. For the last 5 years we have stayed at The Zafiris in Sidari on a S/C basis. The staff work very long hours & we always leave tips when we buy meals, snacks, drinks etc. Who is going to leave tips next year when they are A/I, will the owners pay more wages I fear not but the staff will probably work harder?
We are going to Sidari again this year but have opted for the Kanali on a S/C basis again, this way we can go eat where we like, when we like & with whom we like... plus the staff will get tips!!!
ps, Yes I've done A/I but mainly in Countries where the nearest resort is miles away, not down the road!!

Each to his own I say .. But I must say, I am a compassionate person, very much so, but I do not find myself "worrying" about staff. I go on holiday to recharge my batteries, have a good time, I have many things going on in my life so holidays are very important to me .. I save hard and it is my choice where I go, like all of us. You can leave tips at AI, there is always somewhere,in the dining room there is usually a discreetly placed container you can put tips in and at the bar the same as well , because i always like to leave something if the service is good

Have to say C4owner, I went to Egypt in June 2011 to the Concorde Sport Hotel, and the staff were an absolute pleasure. Not once was I asked or expected to give a tip, but I did at the end of the holiday as their service and manners were excellent. I think that it is very dangerous to generalise about an entire country and their tipping habbits.

What if a S/C property through First Choice does not have the amenities or cash flow to make their accommodation A/I---are they to be dumped?
I would think that First Choice hotels that cater for half/full boarders are the ones being asked/told to go A/I and not the S/C properties, it looks to me that they are still available through Thomson and First Choice are handling the A/I holidays.
