Sooooo true Brian! I live in one of those villages and wouldn't dream of driving through it after dark on any night - it's bad enough in daylight!!

Island magazine, which writes about beaches around the world seems to think highly of Agni beach. Click HERE

Well, I am a relative newby - have now visited Corfu for 6 holidays. 5 of them have been in villas in Kalami/Kouloura, another up in the hills in Cremythas - all N/E. Must admit I do love Kalami.
But this summer we decided we really should visit the south, so off we went for a day drive. I know we didn't have time to see it all, but I'm afraid it didn't do it for me. The worst moment was when we found ourselves in the middle of Kavos - we thought we had avoided it, but somehow the road led straight in. Oh boy, was it bad! We beat a hasty retreat and went back north. Each to their own and I am sure there are some lovely places in the south - we just didn't find them.
Have visited Sidari and Roda, and again they are too busy and "English" for me personally. I like Kassiopi, and another discovery was Avlaki which has a lovely beach (though pebbles).
I agree, it's also the people you meet - and Kalami has some lovely people...

Kaminaki beach is our favourite, but do you need jelly shoes to get into the without hurting your feet
