The Cat of Portovecchio-Tales of Corfu.

Has anyone bought this book yet? I see it's for sale by Amazon for £22 and if it's not great I will wait til the price has gone down but if it's really good I would want it for my holiday reading. Thanks.

Copy and paste this link into your browser, the author's site will tell you a little more about the book. Haven't read it myself, but it contains recipes too!

Wow - that's expensive for a paperback! Just had a look and it sounds a very interesting book although the price I got was £27.92 on Amazon - maybe try and borrow it from a library?

It's a very good read. It is also a very difficult book to get hold off. I waited over 6 months to find a copy under £20 and have seen it for sale at over £65 due to it's rarity. It is in my opinion a beautifully written book but questionable if any paperback novel is worth over £20.
If you do splash out you will not be disappointed and you will be able to sell on for the same if not more if you decide not to keep it.

Thanks for the responses. As it's a good read then I don't mind buying it as a special book for holiday. But yes that is pricey!

I wonder if the author would donate a copy for the CDR charity auction?

I've read it and really enjoyed it. Very atmospheric and displaying a true knowledge of Corfu. Wonder why it is so rare, as it's a recent publication?

If you are interesting in obtaining a copy of Maria's book you might like to look at the link for the CDR charity auction in the Greek Life section of the forum.

We have signed copies of both her books, The Cat of Portovecchio and To Poilima tis Panoraias (written in Greek) as well as a signed copy of Corfu Blues, which is written by her husband Jim, which the authors have kindly donated.

Your chance to get a copy of these lovely books - and help support a good cause!

Ah, they weren't showing when I last looked. It is good to see people are being so generous.
