A colleague of ours has found a cat believed to be a Pedigree Rag Doll. He was found in a very poor condition, wet, scruffy, dirty, worms, fleas etc.he was not neutered and he has no chip.

He has been restored to good health now and has been wormed, flead and castrated and is looking alot better.

This type of cat cannot live outdoors as the cats do in this country, he must have been brought here from another European country or bred from one that has been brought here. They cannot and will not defend themselves against other cats and do not like being away from their human carers.

If anyone knows where this cat could have come from or have lost a cat like that please contact us. He was found on the road around Dassia, Tsavros junction area.

It is doubtful that we would find the owner and are also looking for anyone who would be willing to give it a home or at least foster it for a while.

If rehoming it on the Island fails then we would consider helping someone to passport it and rehome it in the UK.

If anyone can help in any way please contact me here by pm or you can telephone me on 26630 91780

Hi Angela

That is such a shame. The poor mite, This is a breed that is a human "created" breed and so as you say, does not understand how to live outside.

As you know I breed, show and adore Maine Coons. But I also have close dealing with a lot of breeders/clubs/Judges so if you do need to relocate him to the UK. Please let me know if I can be of any help.

Thanks Emma

If it comes to that I will be in touch as I believe that the Pedigree clubs and organisations generally do rehomeing for their special breeds.

I do desperately need a fosterer for him if someone could help us for a few months whilst we sort him out it would be a great help to us, but he has to be an indoor cat.

Hi Angela

I have a very long shot, I will drop my friend Voola an e-mail via Samis. Voola is a wonderful Greek friend in Moritika who understands the needs of a pedigree cat and the need for indoor living. It's a long shot but she just might be able to help.

She owns a Turkish Van that she imported a few years ago. He/she is her second as her first one used to free roam and so her neighbours poisoned it.

Voola is a wonderful lady. I'll drop her a line and if I get any news I will let you know

Yep, over here all breed clubs have a rescue/rehoming secretary. Most breeds have two clubs, also there are other clubs that deal with "type" ie Semi Longhaired's

What a shame !
I foster cats here in the UK .....you can get a lot of pleasure fostering a puss , then watching it blossom
I do hope this poor puss finds a home

Thanks Emma - please contact your friend, if we could home him(Its a boy) on the Island it would save a lot of work and stress for him.

If she likes her cat to stay close then it would be ideal as he just will not move away from the house he is at he just wants to be inside and with people.

We cannot understand how he came to be out on his own. He was NOT neutered and we wondered if his instincts got the better of him and he went off after a female.

Another reason could have been that he was dumped!!!
and I personally think that is what happened.

Hi Angela

I know the breed a little as I now steward in the SLH section and the entire Raggie boy's are interested, but not that interested;o)) Bit like my MC boy. Likes girls handed to him on a plate;o)))

I have to agree with you on what you think has happened. I'll let you know what happens with Voola. But she isn't computer savie so may take time.

I know we have spoke in depth about our eventual reocation with mob, but this is nothing I could dream of doing. They are our family. It also makes me sad we can't be there now, as there would have been no question, he would have been more than welcome to join our rabble.
Actually worst case and he has to come to the UK, all be it for a short while, he can come to us here.

I really do admire the wonderful work you do, and I have already agreed with W that I will be doing what I can to help when we get there.

Oh, when I say come to us for a short time, I mean short time in the uk, not a part of our family. When a cat joins our family it is for life.

Thanks for that Emma, I know what you mean because I would not want him coming back here once he was in the UK anyway and you are planning on moving here.

This is a perfect example of why we ask people not to bring animals here, especially pedigree special breeds. They can get out and if not neutered can breed here.

This poor little guy must have suffered terribly before he was found and it is so difficult to get people here to take on an indoor cat. Its difficult in fact to get anyone to take on a cat!!!!

Hi Angela

I have just sent the e-mail to Voola, I'll keep you posted.

Sorry I didn't send it last night, but I had kittens bouncing off of the laptop, and wanting cuddles.

Speak to you soon
Love Em
