That all of Corfu Airport is now NONE SMOKING!
Smoking was allowed in the departure areas in May 08,but in JUNE 08 it was not!Not even a ' smokers pen'or any warning that the whole airport was a no smoking area, you only found out once in the departure lounge! Also in our village shop one day a little girl came in to buy a pack of cigarettes for one of the older generation I presume, once she was served I mentioned to the shop owner that selling cigarettes to anyone under 18 is against the law in the UK,the shop owner wrote on a piece of til roll that in 2010 that would also be the case in GREECE! 'Things They Are A Chang'n'

The Greeks are much more laid back about most things. While in Athens a couple of years ago I asked my 8 year old Granddaughter to get me a beer from the bar. She laughed and said they wouldn't serve her. I bet they will said I so off she went, returning a couple of minutes later with my beer. She really though it was wonderfull. I guess all this will end one day the same as it did in Britain many years ago. Thanks for the good news about the airport. It was so bad in there before, all being closed in.

Its a case of regulations not being up held in most European country..Its only our country that are abyding by the laws that come out of Stuttgart in Germany...If the law was laid down in greece as to its health and safety regulations (To mention just one)it would be at a stand still tomorrow..As Graham say greece is just more laid back to them like also Spain and France....
Take the fishing for instance all European country's should be using the Russian square netting that allows the smaller fish to go through the bottom of the net...But there not.... There still using the diamond net that traps every small fish not allowing them to get bigger and you end up with fish stocks depleting from the outcome...Our fisheries protection vessels can not police every vessel that trawl's around our coastal waters and hence they get away with..Because we abide by the laws...

For my part, the Greeks would do well to resist a ban on smoking. That is no idle statement. I refuse to step into a pub in the UK, I would have to have a long think about what I would do in the case of Corfu going the same way.
