After a 14 hr journey yesterday it has made me realise once again that however much we have to pay for a direct flight it is worth it. I really hope Easyjet will be successful and will carry on at least one flight a week throughout the year, even the drive down to Gatwick will be worth it.

As everyone else has replied with regards to the flying times - I'm going to reassure you that your son will be just fine - my son is 2 and a half too and he loves flying - we take along a little portable DVD player but he just loves the whole flying experience that he doesn't really watch it but we have it for back up in case he gets restless - also in my hand luggage I have a few little wrapped presents - crayons and colouring book of Postman Pat or something just a few little cheap bits but can come in handy should he become restless. There is so much going on actually on the plane that the time really does fly (sorry - pun intended).
Another thing make sure that your son has a drink for when you come into land and this will help with his ears - I usually stock up with drinks from the drink trolley for the flight and the transfer to the resort - what resort are you staying at?
we are staying at acharavi and have booked a taxi from the airport to our complex (matoula studios) we were thinking about a portable dvd player but did not know if they were allowed to be played on the plane, can i ask where you got yours from?

We got ours from Argos - its a Phillips one - its been a lifesaver as my son didn't used to like to travel in the car but since we got that he has been fine - I just have to make sure its always fully charged.
You can use them on the plane no trouble at all - its also handy to have on holiday as you'll probably spend the day on the beach but when you get back and shower and get ready for going out in the evening its handy for the little ones just to have a bit of 'down time' and watch their favourite programs
