We have an account with smart currency exchange. Basically we contact them by phone, agree a rate for the Euro. We then do a transfer from our bank account on the internet and they then transfer it to our Greek bank account at NO charge. They usually give you approx 4 cents above the bank rate too. I doesn't sound a lot but if you're transferring a lot of money it amounts to quite a lot.

A thousand quid ??
My deposit was 55 euros ! (but I'm only going for a week) !
i have this arrangement where i pay nearly all the cost early.- in march
his holiday season lasts from april/may until mid october, indeed he is only ever really really busy for 12 weeks, so by march he is starting to run out of cash..........so i pay early, and when on holiday all my drinks/food goes on the bill until my last day (like with a lot of corfu bar owners etc). i just like to get mt apartment costs out of the way

where are you staying
in the oceanis about 3/4 of a mile to the north of barbati. check out its web site . the panoramic views are spectacular. i know which room i am staying in, i know the place so well, that its like a 2nd home. its wonderful to think i will be back there in 113 days. from the oceanis i can reach agni bay, or nissaki, or barbati or ipsos, or even kassiopi without too much hassle.
