Hello. My name is Hazel. I'm a Primary School Teacher from Liverpool, married with a 20 year-old daughter. I've been associated with the Corfu Travel Guide as a Coordinator for about 5 years now.
An evening spent in Agni, with a wonderful meal, superb company and a few glasses of Boutari(!)watching the sun go down, is one of my ideas of Heaven on Earth(the other is sitting by a waterfall in the North Yorkshire Dales and looking at the magnificent scenery).
I love Corfu Town. I'm not a shopper, but just love pottering, or sitting in a Cafe on the Liston watching the world go by, with a good book in my hand.I love clambering to the top of the Old Fort, and find the Palace of St. Michael and St George a wonderful place to explore-do look at the Throne Room. I also take a great deal of inspiration from the Churches and the iconography.
When we first holidayed on Corfu 6 years ago, we chose Acharavi (or rather it chose us as we were led by Tour Operator's properties!) and we didn't really know what to expect. We fell in love with the place. For our second year, we stayed in Kalami. It was beautiful, and yet we didn't discover Agni until our last evening there!
When Agni Travel took off we had enough local knowledge to have the confidence to book our own holiday, freed from the shackles and the restricted choices of the TOs. Over the past three years, we have stayed in Agni travel properties in Loustri, and just above Agni.
Loustri is ideal for us. It is a quiet village- tranquil, and ideally situated between Kalami and Agni. None of our household are able to drive, and so we consider accessibility when choosing a property. It's a good job we're keen walkers though because the gradients around Kalami,Loustri and Agni Bay are quite challenging in the heat of an August day, but we love just pottering around the bays-Kouloura,Yialiskari,etc., and paying the obligatory visit to Corfu Town (much more
fun in the Agni speedboat!).
