Hi. Thanks for visiting our homepage. We're David and Deborah Joyce and our young daughter Serena. We live in Maidenhead in Berkshire and have recently built a house in Corfu near Avlaki. We have enjoyed the process enormously and have decided to sell the house and do it again. Gluttons for punishment you might say? We will be renting the property through CV Travel whilst we are looking for a buyer. We don't pretend to be experts on building in Corfu but would be very happy to give any advice to people considering doing the same. www.corfuparadise.com

We're certainly not experts but we're always happy to try and help other people thinking of doing the same.
Buying furniture - UK or Corfu
There have been quite a few questions asked about whether it is best to buy locally (Corfu or Athens) or buy in the UK and ship it out. I would have preferred to support the local economy but when we looked at the furniture shops on Corfu we found there wsn't that much choice, some of the furniture didn't really appeal (a bit too dark and sombre) and prices were quite high. Buying at Ikea in Athens was our next choice but the logistics and costs of getting to and from Athens, arranging shipping and then waiting for a week in Corfu rather put us off. So we decided to buy in the UK, picking up some fantastic deals on Ebay and in the January sales and then ship out to Corfu. How much? All the furniture, kitchen equipment, bedding, electrical goods etc for a five bed house cost around ￿7000. We will be shipping with Mondial Transport at a cost of around ￿2000. Hopefully it will all arrive on March 13th. Fingers crossed!
