Back to Top of Page Welcome

Hello all, and welcome to my members page on the Corfu Travel Guide!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with me, I am Dean, married to Dawn and we have one son, Ryan, aged 8.
We have been visiting Greek Islands for the last 6 years and in 2004 finally decided to visit Corfu. To be honest, I wasn't keen on Corfu, I had heard things that put me off, but gave it a go and boy am I glad I did!! The island has a resort that will suit everyone and on this page in the future I hope to share my experiences from our three visits to date, and hopefully entice a few more of you to try Corfu!

Back to Top of Page A Little About Acharavi

Acharavi is my favourite resort on Corfu, we first visited in June 2004 and we have been there three times so far. Acharavi is situated between Roda and Kassiopi on the North coast, in terms of area it is probably larger than both these resorts and with arguably more amenities, but a down turn in tourism and the introduction of all inclusive resorts over the past few years has seen a decline in visitors. This I feel is a shame, as Acharavi has so much to offer. It is one of those places that has a little for everyone, its quiet enough for those who like it that way, but theres plenty to keep you occupied in the evenings if you like it that much more lively!

Back to Top of Page Places to Eat in Acharavi

Acharavi has an abundance of eateries! I don't think we have still eaten in them all in our three visits, although we have gone back to some on more than one occasion and always recieve a warm welcome, of course like everyone we have our favourites, but its unfair to single out any particular place, its much better to find your own personal favourite! I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal though, wherever I have been.

Back to Top of Page Acharavi Beach

Whats the beach like? that's a question I'm always asked! Well to be quite honest, it will never win any awards for beauty, though saying that, the view on a clear day of Albania can be breathtaking, and the sunsets can be magical. The beach is a mixture of sand and fine shingle, the further east you travel, the more sand I've found. It is always clean and rarely crowded. Once in the sea the sea bed is all sand, so the water isn't quite as clear as it could be, but still clear enough to see the fish swimming around your toes! The sea gently shelves out, so you can walk out a long way before you are out of your depth, ideal if you have young children. As in most of Greece, toilet facilities are few and far between, but there is a good selection of Tavernas and bars that you can use, just buy a drink out of courtesy if you can't be tempted into a drink out of necessity!!
