Ionian Seafaris and Safaris is a small bespoke friendly company set up in 2005 owned and run by Wayne and Alie Johnson-Vogel, operating from Lixouri.

Travelling by power boat is one of the most exciting ways to discover the beautiful rugged Kefalonian coastline. The RIBs can explore the secluded and deserted bays and beaches which are inaccessible by car.

Day trips are operated out of Lixouri and Argostoli and the RIBs run up the west coast or south east coast depending on weather conditions.

The day trip includes swimming, snorkelling and a lunchtime stop at a local taverna.

The day trip is best suited for those who can swim although there are life jackets and floatation devices on board for those who need them.

Ionian-Seafaris adventures are one week island hopping holidays. This is a unique service in the Ionian Islands allowing you to charter a private, skippered RIB for your own group of up to 11 people.

The Ionian-Seafaris concept offers a flexible holiday personally designed for your enjoyment. You can take in as many of the Ionian Islands as you wish within the week's holiday as you relax aboard your luxury RIB.

The one week Ionian-Seafaris adventure is for the more adventurous traveller. Options include everything from setting up camp overnight on a secluded beach only accessible by boat, cooking over an open fire, to scuba diving and water skiing. Wayne and Alie have been doing Seafaris themselves for 8 years and can offer many different routes and places to visit.

If you hold a power boat licence, such as an RYA level 2 or ICC (International Certificate of Competence) and show sufficient experience, you can charter a boat without a skipper.

Also available for daily rental from 10.30am -6pm are 4.3 metre self drive boats with a Mercury Engine 15 HP engine (without a central steering wheel). Licensed for up to 5 passengers, these boats are perfect for exploring the hidden coves and crystal clear waters of the Bay of Argostoli with its secluded and often empty beaches.

These boats are very easy to handle and full instructions are given along with a map of the boating area. All the boats are equipped with safety equipment.

Prices: May, June, Sept Oct 65 Euros plus gasoline (charged on return for amount used)
July and August 85 euros plus gasoline.

It's possible to see the local marine wildlife such as dolphins and turtles which are attracted to the floating fish farms.
Self drive boats can be picked up from Lixouri Marina (turn right when you come off the ferry and walk 200 metres, follow signs and flags)

A RIB is a rigid hull inflatable boat (as used by the Coastguard and RNLI). RIBs are 'planing' boats and they are completely unsinkable due to their inflatable collars. The fleet includes RIBs and self-drive boats for daily hire.

The Snapper is a 6 metre Ribcraft with 115 hp Evinrude Etec outboard engine. The Snapper is white with a blue collar, Mediterranean style seating and can carry 5 passengers plus skipper. It has a top speed of 45 knots and is available for day trips, bareboat charter, wedding parties and one week skippered Ionian-Seafaris week adventures.

A recent addition to the fleet this 7.55 metre Ribcraft is a Cobra Nautique with 2007 model Evinrude Etec 250 hp outboard engine. Muffin and her engine are in white with pink covers on request. The Mediterranean style seating is in white and she carries up to 11 passengers with a top speed of 50 knots. Muffin is available for day trips, Ionian-Seafaris week adventures as well as wedding parties.

The 4.3 metre self-drive motor-boats have 15 hp mercury outboard engines and will carry up to 4 people for daily hire with no licence required.

New for 2010! Ionian Safaris, Quad Bike Adventure Treks.

Quad Bike Adventure Treks are run by Alie Johnson-Vogel from the Ionian Safaris home base, set in the heart of the Paliki Pennisula, just 3 km outside Lixouri (follow signs on Lixouri to Argostoli bay road).

Quad Trekking is one of the most exciting, fun and challenging ways to enjoy the “off road” experience. Quad Trekking is a highly novel way for you, your friends and family to experience what Kefalonia has to offer.

The treks are all off road, with a Qualified Trek Leader (no license required)

Ionian Safaris provides a fun packed biking experience for the whole family. Hardwearing safety equipment is provided and your Trek Leader will ensure your safety and enjoyment.

Quad treks run for 2 hours, plus 30 minute safety briefing and instruction to teach you how to handle the Quad and safely navigate your bike around the terrain.
Once you have completed the basic training, we will asses your/group level of competency and suit the trek accordingly to make your Quad Adventure Safari a truly fantastic experience, but at the same time to keep it as safe for you as possible.

During your Quad experience you will navigate the valleys, river beds, bridges and hills of the Paliki Pennisula, stopping to take in some of the most breathtaking views, and experiencing the history first hand.

Whether you are a complete novice or a more experienced veteran of the Quad scene, we can cater to all needs.
Maximum Group Size : 4 - 8
Minimum Age: 13 – though younger children may accompany an adult or Trek Leader on a Quad, subject to size and capability.
Minimum Height: 5Foot Maximum Weight: 20 Stone

Price is 35 euro for one hour trek or 50 euro for 2 a 2-hour trek.
