RESULTS

There was a huge turnout and we made total of EURO 1210
UNICEF Raffle made EURO 500 and the Bazaar and Craft Market made 710. Receipts for payments to the charities will be posted at Eleios Taverna. Raffle prizes can be collected from Eleios Taverna.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti, 10 February 2010 � Under normal circumstances, February is Carnival time here in the Haitian capital, including its centrally located park, Champs de Mars.
But this year, in the aftermath of the 12 January earthquake, the park is a refuge for at least 15,000 displaced people. Among them are some of the youngest survivors of the quake, and some who were born after it struck.
In support of the Haitian Government, UNICEF has provided safe water to the Champs de Mars settlement, working with the National Directorate for Water and Sanitation and non-governmental partner Action Contre la Faim. And to provide for the youngest and most vulnerable children here, a fully supported UNICEF project has been set up in a �baby-friendly� tent in the park.
Kefalonia is celebrating carnival time early this year. In Haiti the number of people who died is more than Five times the population of Kefalonia. From one island and to another life is very different.

Dear contributor/well wisher,
As usual at the end of the year, we send you a newsletter from our foundation.
We sincerely hope you will enjoy reading it!

LindA Primary School
In our last newsletter we informed you that we were busy turning an old Romney shed into a school building. In September it was ready and the children could move in. The third trimester the children had lessons in the new accommodation. This was very fortunate, because it was raining cats and dogs sometimes and that makes the lessons under the tree very uncomfortable!

Our new primary school has 7 classrooms, for P1 till P7, and there is a room for the teachers and the school headmaster. Outside a kitchen has been built with 2 Okello Cuces, which are energy efficient wood fired cooking places.
The teachers, our children and the children from the community, can have their lunch at school this way, and don�t have to walk far to go home (or be hungry). Also there are 2 toilet buildings on site, 1 for boys and 1 for girls.
Hereby we would like to thank everybody who contributed to our projects for the orphans and vulnerable children in Lira, Northern Uganda .

Thanks to your (financial) help we can offer the children in our S.O.S. (Send an Orphan to School) programme education and care and are we able to give the children in our orphans home House of Grace a safe home where they are taken care off.

Most people do not want to be thanked for participating in the KIDS annual event because we are all doing this for the children that are helped by UNICEF and the LINDA Project. So this is a general thank you to the generous sponsors and helpers who helped make the day a success. I need to correct some statements in the website Kefalonia Press where it is stated that the Bazaar is run by a 'British Colony of English'. KIDS is a Greek based International group supporting International charities including the LINDA Project which is a Dutch charity. We don't have any interest in race or creed just the plight of children in need. The Bazaar had an unusually high turnout of visitors and was a great success.
