Fiscardo Motor Boat Hire

Fiscardo Boat Hire is the largest boat hire operation in Kefalonia and Agni Travel uses their boats as they are fully licensed and insured as well as being owner-operated.

The motor boats can carry up to 5 people in comfort and safety. Fiscardo Boat Hire give full operating and handling instructions. You will be provided with an instruction sheet to take with you and a map of the cruising area. Contact telephone numbers are provided in case you need any assistance whilst afloat and a rescue boat is available.

Boats can be collected from 0900 and can be used until 1800 hours.

On the first day of hire you can check in any time after 9 am when a contract of hire will be completed. Balance payment for boat hire should be made on the first day. After completion of the contract an introduction to the cruising area and a boat handling lesson will cover the following points:

1.Cruising area points of interest and travelling limits
2.Shallow water areas and weather conditions
3.Safety, emergency procedures and contact points
4.Local marine and safety rules
5.Basic sea rules and regulations
6.How to operate and moor the boat correctly
7.Location and correct use of lifesaving equipment.

The following is a list of items it is recommended to take with when hiring the boat:

1.A mobile phone
2.Drinking water
3.Towels and a change of clothing
4.A hat, sunglasses and 'cover-up' shirt
5.Sunscreen lotion and/or sun block
6.A water proof bag for cameras, phones etc.
7.Waterproof jacket in early or late season in case of rain<

The speedboats are 4.65 metres long with choice of 30HP or 40HP engine. They are licensed to carry up to five people. Electric starter; steering and all controls are console operated.

Take care not to exceed the limits set down by the Port Authority for motor-boat hire. Port Authority permits hired boats to travel within a range of three nautical miles from Fiscardo. You will be supplied with a regional map with the limits clearly marked. If you travel out of this zone it will interfere with the insurance coverage and you may well be liable for a fine if one of the coast guards sees you.

Across the Ithaca channel, Polis bay can be reached by motor-boat in about half an hour. For a few months in high season there is a cantina in the port of Polis. You may wish to moor your boat and walk up to the village of Stavros where there is a choice of tavernas for lunch. It's also a good place to try the local honey-cake 'ravani'.

South from Fiscardo one of the closest bays is Foki bay with a taverna by the beach.

The island of Deskalion, also known as Douhalion and Asteri island is near the village of Evreti, south of Fiscardo. The island is between Evreti on Kefalonia and Polis bay on Ithaca. Here you will find some eerie snorkelling as there is a small shipwreck nearby.

North from Fiscardo the lovely horse-shoe bay of Emblisi is flanked either side by slabs of flat rocks. This bay provices safe swimming and dropping anchor in the bay is not allowed. A lovely place to swim and see magnificent views of Ithaca.

The bays of Kimilia and Dafnoudi are not accessible by car so can only be reached on foot or by motor-boat. These are both small idyllic bays with lovely views to Lefkas.

Standard Group boats are 4.3 metres length, 25 hp with a manual starter and tiller steering. Licensed for up to 5 persons.

The Deluxe Group boats are larger, 4.6 metres with 25 hp and electric start and console. (steering wheel with a remote control). Licensed for up to 5 persons.

The large deluxe boats are 4.6 metres long with 30 hp engine and electric starter and steering from console.

Fuel is not included in the price. Boats are supplied with a full tank, with petrol charged according to use.

Depending on how far you travel, it is possible to use up to a whole tank of fuel in oe day and this costs approximately 28 euros.

Booking your motor-boat hire in advance is recommended. Payment in full is required before collecting the boat. Bookings can be made up to 7 days in advance of your arrival. We regret there is no refund in the event of adverse weather conditions.
