This island is rich in diversity and blessed with some of the most dramatic scenery in the region. From the National Park of Mount Ainos at 1628m (higher than Ben Nevis), which dominates the island with its presence, to the compelling beauty of the wild countryside, fauna, fertile valleys, 50 varieties of orchid, citrus fruits and grapes, picturesque Greek villages and a coastline with an endless number of beaches.
Such variety in natural beauty makes this an ideal destination for walkers and we are sure that you will find Cephalonia an unforgettable experience. Little known and little explored unlike many of its neighboring islands, Cephalonia remains largely unscathed by tourism.
The majority of the places that you walk are off the beaten track and away from the tourism areas. You will walk along shepherds tracks, narrow lanes, rural villages, beautiful coastlines and high mountain trails. You are sure to leave the island feeling that you have discovered the real Greece.
From April to the end of June and again in October and November, Cephalonia is a vibrant mass of flowers, their colours creating a colourful tapestry mixing with the scent of wild herbs and pine. During the day the temperature ranges from 15C - 25C, the evenings can be a little cooler and a jumper is sometimes needed when the sun goes down.
