On Sunday 12th March 2006 at the Eleios Taverna on the harbour front in Argostoli the KIDS organised a coffee morning and Spring Bazaar.

Stalls include paintings from local artists, hand-made greetings cards, book stall, 'vintage items' , plants and some nearly new clothes and general bric a brac.

Tickets were sold for the Famous Raffle offering 35 different prizes donated by local people and businesses.

Lambrini at Eleios Taverna is kindly offering to supply coffee from 10 a.m to 2 p.m and all money from hot drinks will be donated to the KIDS charities. Cakes and biscuits have been donated by local people and businesses.

KIDS is Kefalonia's International-Children Dedicated Society. It's a long name made to fit in with the letters for KIDS. The KIDS live on Kefalonia and once a year hold a small fund-raising event and split the money raised between 2 charities. KIDS is not a children's charity itself, we just like to raise funds for children's charities. All the money KIDS raises goes to 2 charities, namely UNICEF and Save the Children.

The UNITE for CHILDREN, UNITE against AIDS campaign was launched by UNICEF on 25th October 2005. KIDS supports UNICEF. For more information visit their website.

In 1994 some children came to Kefalonia to get away from the horrors of Bosnia and we organised an office jumble sale donating 26,000 drs for the children. So this was the beginning of what we now call KIDS.

In 1995 and 1996 we had small jumble sales making 23,500 drs for UNICEF.

In 1997 on 03.02.97 UNICEF 34,120 drs from another jumble sale. In 1998 small donation from another jumble sale.

In 2004 we had a charity football match, car boot sale and a 70s night raising 791 euro for UNICEF and 787 euro (518 gbp) to Save the Children

We only raised 400 euro for UNICEF in 2005 as the car boot sale was stopped after one hour as we were reported to the Port Authority and did not have the correct license for selling things in the harbour. We did not have our usual raffle as it was shortly after a large TSUNAMI appeal involving the usual supporters for KIDS.

KIDS raised 1760 euros from th Bazaar and Quiz. If you could not make it to the Spring Bazaar and Quiz, you may like to visit the Ethniki Bank (National Bank of Greece) and make a donation to the UNICEF account.

We are planning to collect jewellery - new and old - which will be cleaned, repaired and sold in the next KIDS Bazaar. Donations throughout the year invited.
For local businesses who wish to promote their products as well as donate a prize for the raffle, this website can offer free advertising on this web-page. The Corfu and Kefalonia Travel Guides are currently attracting 20,000 visitors a day and Google loves us!

On Friday 17th March 2006 at 8 pm at Lambrini's taverna Eleios, KIDS invited the King if Quiz's to host a Quiz Night. Buffet snacks were provided by Lambrini. Prizes of wine were donated by the Robola Co-Operative and some gifts from Lambini. Tony King was on top form and the taverna was absolutely packed, with the regulars being pushed to the corners!

Prizes of wine were donated by the Robolla Co-Operative. First prize was a selection of wine and a gift from Lambrini. Second prize was a tin of PG tips donated by Tony and Barbara, wine and a gift from Lambrini, third prize was a wooden spoon donated by Tony and Barbara.

All prizes were collected on the night.

The raffle has been drawn and winners at the event were awarded their prizes on the spot. All other prize-winners will be notified over the next couple of days as each ticket has a telephone number on. A full list will be given on this website soon.

A list of winners will be posted at Eleios Taverna as well as copies of the charities' receipts.
