Does anyone know where I can download a street map showing bars, hotels, etc? I've found one but it's not ver clear, just wanted to get a bit of a feel for the place before we go.

Wondering whether to hire a car when we are there, is it easy to drive around the island? Are the roads mad and busy?

We hire a car every year (often twice a year ). My hubby does the driving and loves it. If you take your time it's fine the only place we've been where you do need your wits about you is Corfu town. Having a car has allowed us to plan and more often just " find " places - small villages etc which you wouldn't be able to do - or not easily -by public transport. Even just popping down to Kassiopi and stopping off at some of the beautiful beaches along the way is brilliant. We visit touristy places such as Trumpeta, Kirini and Paleocastrisia which again are lovely and worth seeing. Overall would recommend car hire. Will keep trying to get in touch with north Corfu cars.

Just hope we have enough money, is it expensive to eat out? Just something like chicken and chips? Basic meals.

Hi Elaine, you will find most of the tavernas are still very reasonably priced. The two of us will usually spend 20 or 25 euros on an average evening meal, Im not a big drinker so will usually have water or a coke, Mr jules will have a pint or two, bread and two nice main meals and rarely enough room for a pudding. Sometimes if we are out and have a late lunch we will just have a gyros or pop to Woodys late and sit and share a pizza. Some places are more expensive than others and fresh fish can be expensive but lovely. Sometimes its just too hot to eat big meals and we have a selection of starters instead but we rarely spend more than 25 euros per night. You can get fresh bread and cakey things at the bakery. We have also been known to buy a few bits at the supermarket and make a nice Greek salad or similar and just sit on the balcony with a bottle of beer and chill. You will have a faboulous time Im sure..I still havent even packed, still got four more shifts at work left..booooo

Hi ElaineUK
We're arriving at the Sun Apartments on 5th July. Never been to Acharavi, only Moraitika and Ipsos but lots of years ago. We loved Corfu both times we were there so now we're returning with family. Can anyone tell me if there's much other than the water park for 6 year olds to do? They will love just being by the pool and the sunshine - we don't get that much sun in Scotland!! But it would be good to know whether the restaurants/bars are welcoming to children and whether or not there is any evening entertainment for them? Kelly |

Hi,
Your children will be welcome in all the restaurants. The Greeks absolutely love children, so no worries in that regard. Just enjoy your holiday and your children. One word of warning though, at the moment it is very, very hot. Make sure that they have a high factor sun cream and wear hats. Although there can be a breeze the sun will still get through.

Aww that's a shame. We're there for 2 weeks but this is our first foreign holiday in years so we've had plenty of time to save. My kids have the days marked off on the calendar and are hyper!!
