Today I had a distrubing phone call from Villa Plus. We have a booking at Villa Serena in Nissaki in September, but they are cancelling because of building work at the old Nissaki House site. Apparently very noisy building work commenced a few days ago, but now has been deferred for July/August but might start again September so Villa Plus want to change or refund customers now.

The only alternative accommodation they could offer us was at Kassiopi or Avlaki, which I'm sure would be lovely, but Nissaki is where we want to be

Just wondering if anyone else has been affected, how bad the problem is and any ideas for other accommodation in Nissaki area that won't be affected by construction work. Our flights are booked separately, so is just a week's villa near-ish Nissaki we want. Very sad as so looking forward to our holiday, despite all the problems with Greece in the news.

We are building in Kalami and last summer we had to stop work from June - end of September due to the tourist trade so surprised Nissaki is not the same. We are OK this year so far as the work is not so invasive, but you still never know.

Hi Sara,

We were in Villa Serena from 2nd July this year and the work was still ongoing, despite promises from the owners lawyers that work would halt in July, and the noise was terrible. We complained and Villa Plus could not have been better!
They relocated us to a Villa in Kalami, which is not one of their own Villas as they had no vacancies and we were delighted with the service.
The local staff were excellent and could not have done more for us. The main thing to note is that as you moved away from Villa Serena to the next Villa along you could hardly hear anything so it is only Villa Serena that was affected!
Having a great holiday in Kalami now and could not be happier!
I am sure that you will also have a great time in September!

Villaplus say they are not renting out any of the three villas next to the building site, and could only offer us accommodation in Kassiopi so unfortunately we had to cancel and got a full refund. Have booked a week in the Sea View apartments - not quite the villa holiday I hoped for, but in Nissaki and a fraction of the price!

The Villa plus people were really apologetic and much better that they warned us in advance than having problems once there. if the builders do stop for July/August, it will all be starting again in September. Glad you enjoyed your holiday in Kalami - it's also a lovely spot

Hi all. Our family of four stayed at the Villa Xenia from 29 June to 13 July 2012. This was booked via Villa Plus. Villa Xenia is right next door to Villa Kiki and about 5 mins walk from Villa Serena and Melina. I can assure you that you CAN hear this building work very clearly at ALL of these properties. Our experience was that it started at 7.30am EACH day and continued until 3.30pm. Noise comprises heavy earth moving equipment, buzz saws, cement mixers etc. We received no advanced warning from villa Plus prior to leaving the UK although our neighbours in Villa Kiki were offered alternative accommodation prior to departure from the UK.

We were repeatedly told this work was due to stop for the summer months any day.
Upon complaining we were offered alternative accommodation in Kalami at the end of our first week. This was not however of a comparable standard and therefore we did not accept.

It is difficult to gauge the position adopted by Villa Plus given their clear prior knowledge of this problem. I am pleased to see that sense has now prevailed and that they are now cancelling bookings. In fairness to Villa Plus the villa was otherwise of a good standard and exceeded our expectations in all other ways.

The fact remains however no one pays this sort of money and expects to holiday next to a noisy building site. From speaking with neighbours and new arrivals during our last week it is clear to me Villa Plus communications on this issue have not been consistent with their clients. There are other properties who I would suggest will also hear the noise from this development. If you are reading this and travelling to Nissaki this summer may I suggest you contact your operator to seek their view on this matter. Finally, it must be said Nissaki remains a great holiday choice. Have a great time

We were in Elena from the 11th June for two weeks and there was some noise although the worst was during the first week when stuff was being taken into the sight and what looked like piling equipment. To be honest most of the noise was either buzzing and what sounded like one guy constantly hammering stone. We decided to put up with it even though it was a pain as we didn't want to be re-located.

However, on our return we did complain and we have been given compensation and the Villa Plus office said they were aware of some problems.

I know when they built the harbour they had to stop during July but I can't see that happening with the latest development as we were told that it is being built for a Russian guy who has given strict instructions that he wants it completed asap so the builders must be on some sort of contract with penalties.

Maybe the work will be finished by September? It was so annoying to be cancelled as was going to be our first stay at Serena, which I've always thought looked the nicest of the three villas. We were in Eleni last year and had a great time. SeaView is nice but not like having your own place and pool, only good thing is will have extra money as was very reasonable price - splash out on a few meals out at Agni maybe!
