Hi all, had two weeks in San Stef 6th-20th July. First visit for 5 years (simply because we were trying other places). Fab weather, beach lovely (even on windy days when the sea came in up and under the sunbeds!), best meals Zorbas, Beachcomber, Olympia and Yiannis. Fab lamb on the spit and best Stifado at Yiannis. Superb Kokanisto at Zorbas. Wonderful perch parcel at Beachcomber. Great fun at Nafsika quiz on Wednesdays. Enjoyed pre dinner beers at Acabar, lovely, friendly bar. Summer Dreams lovely (and cheaper than most) but usually empty (but beware of the rock singer on Sundays). Village as friendly and welcoming as ever. Highlight - Akrotiri bar early evenings (yes we walked, phew) awesome. Only criticism, too many naff tribute acts. In summary, a fab holiday. May well return next year. Oh and final mention of the lovely girls in San Stef travel - lovely, friendly, helpful.

Nickos that's a great report back. Thanks and glad that you enjoyed your holiday.

The tribute acts seem to be something of a theme as their 'cousins' are also alive and kicking in Sidari it seems!! Ermm

So pleased you had such a brilliant time back on Corfu.

Hi Nickos this is the first time I have seen any one give Summer Dreams a good report and cant understand why. I know it is never very busy but when I am in San Stef I call in every day for a drink and allways enjoy it.
Regards Harry

Yeah I know. I don't think I would eat there (plastic tablecloths don't look inviting). One night we saw 3 tables occupied but that was vety unusual) but its lovely place for a drink either early before dinner or last thing on the way home

Good report Nikos, I wonder if you were in the Nafsika bar on the same Wednesday night as us. We stayed at Vagelis Apartments 29th June to 13th July, and used the Nafsika as a base and ate there most nights. The food at the Nafsika was fantastic as usual but Zorbas, Little Prince and Ozzie Oils were just as good too.

Agree the village is as friendly and welcoming as ever and certainly agree about the tribute acts at the newer part; they seemed to be all trying to compete with each other to see who could make the most racket! Not my cup of tea and not what I come to San Stef for, but each to their own I suppose, one of the good points in staying in the old part of the village it’s not changed much and is still nice and peaceful. Smile

We used San Stefanos travel for a boat trip to Erikoussa Island, which I would recommend, beautiful and unspoilt. Not much to do other than relax on the beach or sip a cooling drink on the only beach taverna.

This year was my 9th trip to San Stefano’s, were planning to try something else for 2013, but will be back in 2014 all being well

Love reading everyones reports leading up to our holiday. August 31st can't come soon enough.
I agree about the tribute acts. That's the one reason why we didn't go into the Condor bar at night. Loved their breakfast though. (We usually have just one British style brekkie on our hols.) I like the laid back style of the other bars and can't wait to get there and relax.
Sitting in a taverna near the beach, listening to the waves...I'm dreaming again.
As I said, roll on August 31st...

We tend to visit the resort at least once a year, sometimes three times. We too don't use the Condor as not our cup of tea but do enjoy live acts at Athena 3W's and Summer Dreams.
The majority of nights find us lingering in the taverna long after the meal has been cleared away just chilling, chatting and experiencing the "very different" wines.

Enjoy yourself DeniseL... Look forward to hearing of your holiday when you get home.

I wasn't referring to Condor, not our cup of tea either. The tribute acts have now spread beyond Condor to Silver Star, El Greco, Acabar, hence my comment. But forgot to say we loved the accoustic guitarist in Athens bar.

The village is a far cry from what is was originally, we have been going for about twenty years and the other night I came across some old photo's of when they were digging out the foundations for what is now the Silver Star bar. There was nothing at all there before it was just a piece of waste land, the whole village and entertainment centered around traditonal Greek dancing either at Barras, Manthos, Paradise and Sunset later on.The Athens Bar was the trendy music bar, later on there was a disco (which was very contained) at the Condor. Well time moves on and we all find our niche somewhere, hope it's not too noisy, only two more sleeps to go.

Have a wander into O Manthos taverna and ask if you can look at the old photo albums... Absolutely fascinating way to pass an hour or two.
