We are due to go to Kassiopi 7th June and are in a quandary as to whether to book a transfer from the airport, which may involve various/many stops or to book a Hire Car which would probably only cost marginally more than a taxi? Any thoughts or experience's on this would be appreciated, also, is the drive out of Corfu Town OK or fraught with problems?

Hi Rob, a taxi to Kassiopi is 51 Euros one way with Alfa taxis who we have used and are very reliable, and can be booked online. A car from The Travel Corner based in Kassiopi who only have Volkswagons is 36 Euros per day for a Group C which is a Polo for example, this is including all insurances and collision damge waiver. I am not a saddo who happens to know all these prices but we have a car booked through them for the end of May

We always book our cars from the Travel Corner in Kassiopi and cannot fault them for their service. They always seem to go that extra mile to keep you happy.

If you book a taxi then you leave the airport and are straight on your way....with a hire car you have to queue, fill in form and then go to look for it...but it is cheaper and you could have 3 days hire for the cost of your taxi return journey. I personally would go for the taxi unless you were wanting to hire a car for a few days. Enjoy your hols

We booked a car with TOPCARS in April and I had the keys in my hand before our bags had appeared. This was with just two planes on the tarmac. The service really was FIRST CLASS and at 130 euros for the week was a real bargain. Of course prices will rise in the main season but a hire car is well worth thinking about especially if you intend to look around the island. If you do decide to go with the hire car there will be plenty of advice on how to get through/around Corfu town from people on this forum.

Rob, If you book through The Travel Corner you provide licence details etc, before you arrive and literally walk out of arrivals meet one of the Excel people than go, its very quick and painless, we have used other companies who may be a little cheaper but when you add on the extras it is not always a good a bargain as you think, I prefer a nice VW compared to some of the things on offer with other companies some of which we have hired!
You get free access to their car park behind the office in the village which is very handy if popping down the town.The drive is very easy I can send you very good directions that we received from a travel company when we first visited if you like, where are you staying?Cheers Sue |

I can also reccomend Topcars, few minutes to fill in the form then shown to the car cases in and away we went. Excellent service and nice clean and tidy car. We have another one booked for June and prefer to spend the 100 odd euros towards the hire car rather than a taxi as then we have it for the whole two weeks and drive it back to the airport on our departure. julesx

Hi Ellenjay, When we booked for Easter Kostas arranged both the accommodation and the car and we only saw him in the office, we just thought Stefanos was on holiday so we never asked.

Hire car is definately the way to go, we always do it and you have a car for the rest of your stay!!! Cosmic in Kassiopi told us last year they were the cheapest on the island for car hire. Have a shop around is my advise.

Thanks for all your info, very helpful. Decided to book a Taxi (booked with Alfa Taxis 56 Euros each way which works out at 11.25 each so not too bad really) to get on our way as quickly as possible, however would definitely try The Travel Corner in future if it is as quick as SusieB says. Always found the best car hire rates in Kass, were with N.S.K. now situated in Roda. Will be booking with them again this year.
