Hilary is just packing for our return to the UK tomorrow so I thought I'd do a quick update on Kassiopi this time round...

We were sad to see that Anthony has closed up the shop behind the Mak Mak bar. Apparently his mother in law died & they've gone to Paxos where I assume she lived. He was one of the first people we got to know when we came here in 1998 and it was him who advised me how to get the Sea Urchin spines out of my foot when I trod on one at Imerolia!

The Mak Mak bar isn't open yet, we're told it will be.

The Tex-Mex restaurant has gone and in its place is a new establishment called 'Juniper', which promises fine English dining. They're working hard on it but its not open yet.

The Venus Beach bar opened today, too late for us...

We tried to find the Ouzerie that was mentioned - I've seen Stephanos twice but only from a distance on his scooter so I couldn't ask him, but nobody seems to know anything about it. The building next to Dolphins is an old one that was uncovered when they took away the Tourist shop that used to be at the front of it. It might be the location but I don't know.

There was a big party last Sunday when the victorious Kassiopi football team displayed the league trophy - they've been promoted to professional standard and have a wealthy Russian sponsor. The 'do' was in the school playground and went on until late!

The parking at the top of the village under the trees has mostly been fenced off, although there is still a little space. 

That's about it, in no particular order. We're off tonight for Pastitsada at Istoni, back in September!

Hi all, back from Kassiopi and the place is as magical as ever. Landed in a thunder storm which was quite scary as the pilot kept cirling round waiting to land, but landed OK which was good as several other flights had been diverted. The weather was cool for first couple of days, probably with the storm but warmed up to high seventies after. Was lovely to see Spiro and family where we stayed at Imerolia taverna, as welcoming as ever, and had some lovely meals there. Also ate at Sousoro, Petrinos and Castello and all were excellent. The bars were a bit quite with being May, but most places were open. Got to get saving up again now for next year. Hope all that are going enjoy as much as we did. lol Annxxx

Arrived from Gatwick ahead of time and been soaking up the rays  Had a beer and snack at Avalaki beach followed by trolley dash around supermarket, we found prices about the same. Having a BBQ tonight as we are tired been up since 3.30 this morning. Will keep you posted as when we arrived at villa were thrilled that it now has wifi...result...weather warm and sunny...long may it shine

They are all in fine form and were pleased to see us, have a great time too
