Good morning,
We're heading back to the Belvedere apartments in Paleokastritsa late August, and although we love the laid back feel, as were going for two weeks we thought perhaps we may have a night out in a livelier resort. Is there anywhere within taxi distance (which wont cost the earth) that we could possibly try??? Thank you

Thanks, but I think it'll cost a lot more than 10 euros, Gouvia is nice and a bit busier, I like the Orpheus there, and Babba Yannis, it cost me 8 euros from the Kontokali resort to Gouvia.

In 2010, a taxi from Corfu town to Paleokastritsa was €35. That was around midnight. At least you can go in on the bus earlier in the day for around €2.40 each. Although going anywhere else by bus means going into Corfu first, then back out to your destination. There's always plenty of things going on on a Friday or Saturday night in town.
Ignore any offered excursions of evenings in town. They're basically selling spare seats on the bus that takes people to the glass-bottom boat for an evening trip. You'll find them heading home again before the sun has set. |

Have a fantastic time at the Belvedere and tell the family for me that I definately will be back in September. The cost of the taxi from the airport in May 2012 was 45 euros and this was standard as far as others have told me. There are other bars in Paleocastritsa (don't tell Nikos I told you shhhhh!!!) such as the Cactus Bar and Tango- they can be a bit livelier. Also my pal John DJs at the Acapulco on nights through the week and it is always buzzing there. All these bars require a wee walk but as there is street lighting it's not so bad on the way back (maybe 20 minute walk from the Acapulco). An alternative is to get the last bus into Corfu Town, have a dinner and go to some of the bars there. There will be plenty of taxis to get home but again around 45 euros.
Paleo is as busy or as quiet as you want. Nikos is always happy to perform at the Belvedere and you may find that the fun there is enough for you. He likes his music videos-I apologise in advance for some of them as I gave them to him but after watching Live Aid for the 50th time I thought it was a wise move
