I presume by the German beach Pegasus means the bit of beach along the beach to the left that is around the Roda Beach Hotel. This is a public beach and despite what people think is public. I will not start a beach towel type post here.,

Hi Matthews,

Just come back from the Theodoras. We had a brilliant stay, the first week wasn't so hot at night but the second week it was starting to hot up. Daytimes were perfect, all hot. We stayed in the first block across the road from the main complex in a studio. It was big enough for the both of us no problems, although trying to get an extra bed in for a child might be a bit tight. The cleaner comes six days per week and did make the bed wierd i.e. the top sheet was made half way up the bed. This meant we had to make the beds again after her, having said that we made ours before she came in and she didn't have to do it!

The rooms themselves had everything in that you would need to self cater. We had a hotplate for the bacon and eggs in the morning, and a microwave grill for keeping the plates warm and an array of kitchen tools and a good kettle. Bathroom was spotless, the only thing I don't like is the shower curtain doesn't fit to the floor so water does fly out at a rapid rate of knots, but there was always a mop on hand outside to make it safe.

There is nothing bad I can say about the Theodoras, Grant the rep for Olympic was especially helpful and moved us from the back to the front for the second week at our request. We also ended up having a late flight after midnight and we were able to pay the lady 20 euros to stay and keep the room on until 18.00.

We met a lot of lovely people in the complex and everyone was friendly and said hello walking past, we were on the end of the block. So all in all we had a brilliant time and will be returning in September hopefully.

The resort was quieter we thought than in previous years, been going for twelve or so years. I think it is due to the recession. We had never seen so many people self cater in all the years we have been visiting! All the restaurants are good in Roda, our favourite is the New Port (blue and white check tablecloths situated on the front), we also like the Drosia, Nicos (next to the Roda Park) and several others. We only tend to frequent Greek restaurants. The food is reasonably prices, we paid an average 22 to 25 euros per night for one main course each and a kilo of wine.

The sea was perfect, lovely and warm, ideal for children. I would suggest you go up to the German beach and go in the sea there. It is lovely and clear and no pebbles. The beach itself stretches for miles so if you like walking off you go!

Regards,
Pegasus.

Have a look at the Roda street view, will give you a flavour of the village, it is very small, not a sprawling resort.  Enjoy!

There 2 ATM machines in Roda - 1 near Pirates Bar along the beach front and 1 on the main road opposite Mistral Bar, there may be more, but not sure - I have been here since April and there have been no problems with getting money out.

Hi
You will love it we have been going to Roda for over 30 years. Plenty of restaurants to choose from we eat most nights in the Dolphin Restaurant best fish and the Greek dishes are fantastic.  Quite a few Tavernas and bars, Pirates Bar my favourite.
Walk along the beach and turn up any of the side roads they will take you in to Acharavi - the Pump House Restaurant is very nice.
I am sure you will enjoy your holiday, friends of our stayed in the Theodora Fiona last year and loved it, they were right at the side of the pool in a little bungalow. There are plenty of walks to little villages.
Enjoy

Hi,
Haven't heard anyone say in NW Corfu yet that the ATM's are empty. Perhaps, just scaremongering by the tabloids. Only time that I have known them to be low is on Bank Holiday weekends, when everyone is withdrawing funds. Been here for a while and no-one has said there is a problem here in the NW.
Perhaps someone from elsewhere on the island could have some input too!!

Hi Daveneil,

The sailor was not a sailor but Vangelis, he was known as the Captain and thought by many, to be the owner of the New Port Restaurant (on the beach) but he wasn't but that is another story! The New Port is still there, they do have someone front of house like most of the restaurants on the islands because they want your custom, and they want you to come back.

We were the same as you, never going in but now we go in for all of our meals and the family that run it, that have always run it are there working hard every summer just so we can have a lovely meal overlooking the sea with a sunset to die for and we have seen alot of them! Hooray to them, we will see you soon Adonis and Parthinea.

Regards, Pegasus.

Hi Matthews,

We have stayed in the Theodoras for a number of years and it has a nice pool, nice staff, well equipped rooms and within walking distance of anywhere for anyone. We are off there in three weeks and no doubt we will have a lovely time. Hope you enjoy your stay.

Regards, Pegasus.

Hi,

The New Port restaurant on the beach is a great place to eat, we have been going for years and we know the family very well.  There's nothing better than eating your meal on the beach with the sun going down!  You cannot miss it blue and white check cloths on the table, you will be very happy.

Regards Pegasus
