Hi there. Does anyone know roughly how much a taxi would cost from Kalami to Kassiopi. Or failing that do the buses run fairly regularly? I have a copy of a bus timetable but they do not seem to run in the evening.
Thank you
Cara.

I paid 18 euro about 3 years ago (one way). Don't suppose it will have changed too much since then.

As of last year a taxi from the Adonis reception in Kalami to the square in Kassiopi was €15. The buses can be a bit erratic at times, though very cheap.  Gina in reception will book one for you and the driver will take your return booking or give you a card to phone for return.  All very easy.

Hi Caramc64

You are correct, this bus service does not run in the evening.  We've often wished it did.  It would be good to be able to get a bus into Kassiopi to spend an evening there for a change without getting a taxi both ways or one of us having to drive.  The last bus to Kassiopi is somewhat early (for us) to be going into Kassiopi for the evening and we'd still have to get a taixi back.  Unless things have changed this year the bus service (which is the Corfu town to Kassiopi service) only runs 4 times a day.  Unhappy

Deedee Big smile
Are we there yet?
We've been and come back but we're going again.

Crumbs! 15-18 Euros was sounding good, you have thrown quite a spanner in my plans BoultonLynda! Maybe we would be just as well to ask around when we get there, someone might do us a deal for both ways? Thank you all for your help.
It is such a shame the buses don't run into the evenings. When we were in Crete they had a fantastic bus timetable right into the evening and we used it regularly.

I hope that you are right Canarydave. We were looking forward to having a look around Kassiopi as we have not been there before and it does look very nice. An afternoon on the beach, a wander round and then a bite to eat. Mmm can't wait!

I'm with Canarydave - we also paid 15 euros each way, last year.  It also works out cheaper if you have another couple to travel with, even if you are not spendig the evening with them, just organise a time and meeting point for the return journey, sorted! Thumbs Up

The country buses are run so that the outlying villages populations can get to and from Town for shopping and other matters, that is why the first bus is invariably very early, and the last one not very late in the afternoon. I dont imagine it would be viable to run a service for the tourists season.
Shops and offices in Corfu Town often open at 6am. For instance our soliciter would meet us at 5.45 am when we bought our house, and there would already be people without an appointment waiting, hoping to see him.

As we are a family of 5  I'm not sure we will be able to get a taxi big enough to share!!
We were hoping to spend the afternoon in Kassiopi and then stay on for dinner as a change. Having buses running would obviously make this a cheaper day out, but we'll just have to wait and see wont we?
I am also not too sure about setting out that early in the morning to get to the beach Bob and Wendy. Confused I'm sure that would be a lovely time to go though, but not quite right for us. But as a lot of places shut for the hotter part of the day I guess it makes sense for some people.

Hi,
I think that you are correct as the taxis are only insured to carry four passengers. Perhaps, as previously suggested and share a couple of taxis with like minded people. Smile

I was thinking of something else altogether when I said 30 euros.  I have asked Alfa Taxis this very question and have been quoted 14 euros each way to Kassiopi, 30 - 35 euros each way to Roda.  Sounds OK to me!

Thank you BoltonLynda. That sounds good, all I need to do now is find a taxi that takes 5.
If not we'll have to get separate ones which then starts to get expensive again. Well, only about 5 1/2 weeks to go then I can find out for myself.Smile
Thanks again for your help
Cara.

If you do decide to return by taxi make sure it's not a change-over day as all the taxis will be doing airport runs. We made this mistake once but fortunately, and this shows the friendliness of the Corfiots, Steve the owner of the cafe bar in Kassiopi, after numerous calls to get us a taxi, got his friend out of bed to drive us back to Kalami and he wouldn't take any money for it!
