Hi there
I am new to this site and also first time visiting Arillas. It seems very popular with people that have visited and returned, can anyone advise me of what to expect price wise and what there is to do. We know its quiet which is what we are looking for. Really excited as it will be our first trip together without the children :) Any tips of how to fill our days Hannah

Hi Hannah
You will have a wonderful time, my last visit was in October when I stayed at the Kaloudis apartments. The price of a large glass of beer was 2.50 Euros at most places and the food differed depending on if you wanted their daily special or something from the menu. The daily specials were about 9 Euros and so yummy. You can pass your days by lazing round the pool (you can use any pool as long as you dont take your own food which is understandable), you could laze on the beach, you could go on a leisurely walk to to Afionis which is the village to the left it is beautiful, you must go there and sit in one of the bars/restaurants. The village to the right is San Stefanos which is also beautiful. In the evening you must sit in one of the bars on the beach and watch the sunset it is spectacular. There really is no nicer place |

When you want a change from the beach or pool why not consider a trip. If you are travelling on a 'package holiday' your tour operator will no doubt try to sell these to you but, before you book, check out the local travel agents as they often do the same trips much cheaper. May I suggest hiring a boat for a few hours ...choose a day when the sea is not choppy (for comfort). You can also book boat trips (which leave from Agios Stefanos harbour) out to the islands. I also suggest hiring a small car for a few days. That way you can really get to see some more of beautiful Corfu. It is a shame to pay a lot for your holiday and miss so much for the sake of about 40 euros per day (plus petrol). Then you can visit Afionas more than once and sit at one of the lovely tavernas taking in the views!! Dennis |

We got quite a good deal, well I think we did, and are staying at some apartments so I dont know if there will be tour operators selling things? as although we bought a package deal when I looked at our costing, its through different tour operators such as Hays Travel and Thomas Cook.
Where would you recommend for trips? I have seen things about horse riding? Can I do that? If I walked to these towns what is the likely hood of me getting lost :) Thanks for your advice.

Have a look at www.arillas.com.
There are a couple of travel shops in the resort where you can book local trips, without using the Tour Operators. There are boat trips to islands and Paleokatritsa etc, shopping trips in Corfu Town, Greek nights and lots more. The resort is small and all walkable. You won't get lost. There are signposts to Afionas and Agios Stefanos and back again to Arillas. Where are you staying? |

We are staying in a 2 bed apartment called Makris. There weren't many reviews but since we are travelling in the summer holidays and when I checked online the flights to Corfu would have cost more than the whole holiday itself! so just fingers crossed apartments are nice. There are only 2 of us but that was the last apartment they had so they gave us a discounted 2 bedroom.
We are really looking forward to going as everyone on arillas.com and here seem to love the area!

The Makris is on the quieter back road, only a short walk to the beach and restaurants etc. It has a lovely pool and pool bar, nice views towards the sea and with olive groves behind.
There's a good fish restaurant on the walk to the beach called Vavilas. |

We have two lots of friends staying at the Makris this year in June, the second time for each of them so it must be good. The views over the fields and surrouding area are lovely, and usually there are goats and a donkey in the opposite fields. The Makris is family run, they do nice food, and the prices are very reasonable. The rooms are very well equipped. I think the walks are lovely around Arillas, I am sure you will love the place. As you walk to the beach from the Makris, a road on the left takes you up to the Night Owl, a really friendly place where you can eat and drink, and as it is open all year it is quite traditional and very Greek, the owners are a lovely couple, the lady, Linda, is American and her husband is Nikos. Take a torch for late returns. I would also recommend the Brouklis Taverna for excellent food and service.

If you want to know where Makris is located in relation to the resort of Arillas take a look at this aerial-view map :-
http://arillasmap.awardspace.com/gmap_arillas/ Select Makris from the drop-down list at the top of the map and it will point it out to you and show you some info on the place. You can move the map around the screen a bit by "dragging" with your mouse. If you want to get a really good idea of what the resort is like take a look at this :- http://arillas.corfu360.net/ It is a "Virtual" tour of the entire resort. If the view is moving just click on the screen to stop, then you can use your mouse to move the view and the on-screen navigation buttons to move around the resort. This will give you a really good idea of where you are going. If you go to the "Left End" of the tour, spin to the right and click to go to "Bardis Sun", then click to go a little further to "Giannis", Makris is a little further along this road - but the tour ends here so you can't quite get that far. |

For car hire, look no further than Valueplus, run by Yiannis and Sophia from their office in Sidari. They spend most Sunday afternoons in Arillas with their family.
Great prices, and nothing is too much bother. You can book online and they'll drop the car off at your apartments or you can pick it up at the airport. www.corfucarrentals.com |

Welcome to the site Hannah, we didnt stay in Arillas, but very much enjoyed a visit there. We used a lovely taverna opposite a supermarket at the junction at the top end of the road that leads to the beach, called the Amourada we had a superb fish platter plus a couple of mezes a salad and drinks for about 20e. Was in 2007 so will probably be a bit more now but still amazing value for a lovely meal. A car will be a must as the bus service will not be frequent enough or run late enough to be of much use for sight seeing. Would suggest a trip to Paleokastritsa, its so pretty and has many good tavernas. The Achellion is a must, which can take in a trip to the lovely villages of Pelekas and Sinarades, as is a visit to Corfu town to stroll around (or get lost) in the campiello, enjoy coffee at the Liston and lunch on real Corfiot food at Rouvas taverna (near M&S) plus the two forts and museums. And thats just for starters. Loads to see and do and lots of great tavernas to discover. Am certain you'll both have a great time, and if you need suggestions for tavernas further afield I'm certain there will be no shortage of good advice.

If you need to hire a car in Arillas, try Arillas car hire. It's in the village, and is very reliable. Also in Arillas is Arkokal travel, you can hire cars, and they do a good choice of trips too. All are easy to find in the village.
