Hi all - first time I have posted on this new forum. Can anyone tell me the name of the small restaurant almost on the corner as you turn into Ag. Steph (near the cake shop on the main road). They intended to re-open on 1st March this year and wondered if they did?Smile

I hope they are open as we are going tonight. Everyone I know calls it the tavernaki (small taverna) but I will check later to see if it has a real name.

Hopefully I will be there on Friday night (unless Lynn has made other plans).

Graham or Martyn,
Can I ask a favour, please would you let me know when its open next week as we fly out next Thursday for 4 nights and were hoping to eat there but I was not sure if it would be open?
Many Thanks Sue

Hi,
I'm pretty sure, from what I read on the old forum, that it is called "The Tavernaki"

Thank you all - you are correct it is the Taverniki just couldn't remember the name. We arrive Easter Saturday for a few nights and cannot wait. The weather seems to be improving by the day. Can anyone pass on a contact number please as I know they get busy at weekends.

I dont think so Frilly but I may be wrong.  If you come from Kalami on the main road past town hall which is on your left (above Kaoloura) then turn right at Ag. Steph opposite the cake shop it is almost on the corner. Hope this makes sense!!!

OK, just got back. It's name is 'Tavernaki' with no 'the' or ''to' as I first thought. It opens every day at 6pm and it's as cheap than anything else you will find anywhere else on the island. Huge portion of fantastic quality meatballs and chips €7 and good white wine at €7 a litre.
Also got steaks and chicken dishes but nothing in the way of fish other than a prawn starter but this is what keeps the price down.
Very nice!! Four hours eating and drinking for less than ten quid each and a free pudding and olive starters
Oh, forgot to say, big open fire with the smell of olive wood and very friendly.

We don't have a 'Sinies' forum. I suppost Saint Steph(NE) would be the logical place.

We had a lovely meal there last year, a party of us went up from Kassiopi with Heather from Travel Corner and young Vassili from Imerolia taverna. We booked a table, a good job because it was full.

Sue, its bound to be, I've been told by the owners of two tavernas in San Stephanos that they will be open from 1st May, from this I would assume all the others will be open as well. Tavernaki has been open for limited hours for some time now.
