For years I have used Bens mosquito repellent. Containing the active ingredient Deet of 100% it was evil stuff that would strip my nail polish off and leave me feeling very greasy. But it was very effective and the only thing that worked for me. Jungle formula, even the tropical one was hopeless. I recently went to India and was horrified to discover that my chemist was no longer able to get Bens. Knowing that nothing else worked I packed what little I had left and hoped it would be enough to see me through the holiday. I have now discovered Odomos cream, and if like me you have never heard of it I can tell you it is brilliant!! I first came across it from other far east travellers who were recommending it on a forum and then fellow poster on here Nardine starting talking about it. One night in India I overheard the hotel owner telling a traveller to use it, and then in another hotel a tube of it was in the bathroom so I decided to try it out. Firstly it's natural and it smells lovely. It's also easy to put on (no more melted polish!) and it disappears into the skin leaving the skin lovely and soft. Finally and most importantly, it works!!! I wish now I had bought a bucket load of it back with me as it was so cheap but thank heavens it's available on line to buy. Thank you Nardine for recommending it! |

Thanks for the tip H! I've found what seems to be a good deal on ebay - 100gm tube for £4.74 with free postage, so I'll be trying it out in Loggos.
I do seem to be finding that the older I get, the less attractive I seem to be getting to mozzies (cough, cough!) so I wonder whether oestrogen is one of the things that attracts them - specially as Mike has never been as bothered by them as I used to be! |

I wasn't lost - I was just taking an interesting detour!

PS I noticed Nardine's mention of Odomos cream on the other thread, but didn't like to ask what it was, so I'm glad you've cleared that up

That is a good buy Elaine, I think I've seen it at £6 something
on line, though it cost just £1 in India!!! One night at the beginning of the holiday I wasn't quick enough in getting Bens on and my poor feet and legs were in a terrible state; burning, swollen, blistering and oozing and finally turning black. (May be my HRT was feeding them!!!) Any how, the blighters were riff, but Odemos I was happy to use morning and night (dengue is around in the day time hours) and it saw them off!! The Indians do really recommend it so I hope it works for you all. Let us know how you get on. ![]() |

It's A.Maaaaazing! I used it for the first time last year in Roda, Corfu and although it rained every single morning so there was lots of standing water, I didn't get a single bite.
Paxos will be the great test, I think the mossie's are more prevalent there. Although the cream seems thick when you squeeze it out, as H says, it disappears into your skin better than some fancy body lotions! And doesn't smell unpleasant either. I got my first tube from Amazon, it's really quite cheap compared to Jungle Formula or Autan and lasts well. So Helen, we're a club of two so far but the rest will join when they've tried it ![]() |

Large tube of Odemos has arrived today c/o Amazon, will give it a good testing from Friday as we are off to Sorrento in Italy where apparently mozzies are rife 😖
