Have been looking on other sites which say average cost of evening meal for 2 would be around 40/50 €, this seems quite pricey, is it about right?

All depends on where and what you eat and drink. There are high end restaurants that cost a little more and also other restaurants and gyros bars that cost far less.

Imagine if someone asked you how much a meal for 2 would be in the UK.
The price would vary from £6 at McDonalds to £300 at a swanky London restaurant!
Main meals at a Harbourside eatery in Kassiopi are mostly under €10 and €5 to €7 for a pud but then there are drinks to add to that.
I live in Northern England and on comparison food in Kassiopi is not much more than half the price it is here.

For prices think of a chain pub (like a Beefeater) but in Euros. But with much better food!

Most restaurants' main dishes are going to be under €10 for anything but a steak. And since there aren't a lot of cows on the island, the steaks aren't always that great anyway.

Think €4 - €5 for everything else. Starter, desert, half a bottle of house wine (and local whites and rosés are as strong as any red), coffee. Though maybe a bit more for a big or fancy desert.

Then add €1 for a bit of bread and butter - though they do seem to have stopped bringing it out automatically of late... Cry

Hi Roxeysmum. It also depends where you are on the island. If you can be more specific about where you are staying it would help.

Thanks everyone, that makes a lot more sense. We are staying in Kassiopi, we have been before, loved it 25 years ago, loved it even more on our return 4 years ago. Cannot wait.

We do tend to pay circa €50 for two of us dining out in the evenings in Kassiopi. We tend to frequent the restaurants around the harbour, have starters and main course and tend to eat fish & seafood. We also dine at Sousouro once or twice each visit and have a takeaway from one of the grill rooms. We did once have a one course dinner for two (pitta gyros) with soft drinks at the grill room in the square for less than €10. That was back in 2013 but I would guess it is still under, possibly well under, €15.

I am sure you will find options to suit your tastes and your budget.

Kassiopi has restaurants for different budgets but if you are looking at an evening meal with drinks I think Deedee's estimate is about right. If you decide to venture towards Ag.Stephanos, Kalami and Agni the cost may be a little more particularly if you like fish and shellfish.

With the euro rate having dropped to 1:05 at home ... any news on the rate in resort at present? Cheers.

To be honest, unless you are exchanging thousands there really is not much in it.
