Good evening all.
We are a family of 4. 2 adults in our '50s' and 2 youngsters 21 and 15!

Looking for self catering accomodation, preferably 2 bedrooms or maybe B&B. Looking at Sidari or maybe West coast but concerned this may be too quiet?

August 2015...

Advise would be appreciated.

Sidari has something for everyone. Plenty music bars, restaurants, tavernas, several beaches, some watersports on the main beach, horseriding etc. There is a small "strip" which normally has tribute acts in the various bars. Bingo, Quiz Nights and Greek Nights available. If you prefer quieter, there are many small tavernas/bars around where you can while away an evening in conversation. The prices in Sidari are very reasonable for eating out, they have barely changed in the last 5 years. You can use any pool bar and sunbeds are free as long as you buy a drink (even water).  Currency Exchange and Car Hire/Excursions are readily available and not expensive. We use Value Plus or Vlasseros Travel, but there are many others. You can get a no obligation quote for car hire  from Value Plus website and cars can be delivered either to the airport or to your accommodation. Have a look at Othonas Apartments (Othonas Apartments on FB), or if you see somewhere, feel free to ask for info.  Good luck.  Moyra

Sidari would be fine for your family especially the kids... I would stay just outside in somewhere like Terezas, which can be quiet if you dont want the noise/hussle and bussle of the strip on your doorstep. It is literally a 5 minutes walk to the strip but feels like you are miles away at night when you might just want to chill.

Sidari has great shops and we always visit as half the time we can get stuff cheaper than Corfu town to take home in the way of gifts... besides we always visit as I love Three Little Pigs... massive portions and a great bunch of guys.

Thank you for your advise.
We are looking at the Luisa apartments. These seem to be outside Sidari? Are they far from the beach and main shopping area?
Also Paradise but think these may be too central and therefore noisy?

Hi we are going to Paradise apartments. They are central and modern and spotless. Been going to Sidari since 1991 stayed in many apartments around and about got 2 bedroomed apartment this year, very reasonable price with Monarch 600, cheaper than Thomson. Stemma 2 is also excellent in Megali Beach area.

Paradise is central but not noisy and you get excellent service and deals at the Paradise taverna just at the entrance when you stay at the apartments. The Ganarvos apartments are beside the Paradise these are good too and you can use fascilities at both, great apartments, great location. 7th time at Paradise.

Good luck and enjoy Sidari

For a more 'Greek' feel to your holiday I would look at Agios Gordios, plenty to do, stunning scenery.

I am tempted by AG, is there enough for young adults to do. More so at night, don't want sulky kids...

Hi, personally think there is more for the youngsters in Sidari, but plenty for the older generation, too. The Luisa is in the Canal D'Amour area, away from the centre and quieter, but still only about 10 - 15 minutes walk. Plenty restaurants/tavernas in the area. Good luck. Moyra

Plenty going on in Ag. Gordis to keep them occupied- the 'Pink Palace' has been there for years, a hotel that specialises in youngsters from New Zealand etc 'doing' Europe.  This has meant that quite a lively night life has grown up round it, but there is a lot for every age group there, and a nice mix of nationalities too, which means that Greek entertainment is offered as opposed to only catering for the British abroad.
Some lovely walks in the neighbourhood if you feel energetic (with good food and drink at the end of them), and a good bus service to Corfu Town also.

Would definitely not recommend Pink Palace it, is a hostel and yes full of uni students. Stayed there for 72 hours when flight was delayed we were shipped there from the airport.

Definitely an experience only to be suffered once. Also very very hillly.

Why not look at Kassiopi as an alternative. Lots to do for youngsters and oldies. The harbour area is now looking lovely and more choice of accommodation.

Didn't suggest the Pink Palace- just pointed out that its presence means there is plenty in Agios Gordis to occupy young people.

We have stayed and Luisas in Sidari and can recommend them. Very friendly and just far enough away from the strip to be peaceful at night. Don't worry about the strip in Sidari as it is about a 200 metre area and not too loud, although it does have karaoke, tribute bands etc.

Try also Megali Luxuries with Monarch or Sunny Corfu apartments, they have 2 bed apartments available, not sure if I saw them with Thomas Cook or Thomson.

Christakis Apartments are very nice. Our friends have stayed there for the last 4 or 5 years. Very clean, nice pool/pool bar. It's about 5/10 minutes walk from the centre, on the road out of Sidari. Very handy for Canal D'Amour too, with lots of restaurants, tavernas, bars, nearby. Beaches very near too.  Moyra
