It is just another case of a large multi national company taking over rivals as a way to increase its market share.

You can also get it in the UK when not in your beloved Kassiopi.

Morrisons sell it as well and you can order online from a distributor in York but it has a lesser proof in the UK.

Why not develop a taste for the Corfu beer? Truly local and nicer than the others too.

All a matter of taste. I do drink Corfu beer and on occasions in copious amounts, but I still prefer Mythos.

I agree with your thoughts Daveboy. Personally I'm a supporter of the Fix and Corfiot beer range of beers, including their alcoholic ginger beer, have you tried the Alfa and Virgina brands.

Hi Aussieboy. I have had the odd bottle of Virgina from time to time, but I will reserve judgment. As for Alfa well being a Mythos man you might find it strange when I say I sup nothing else but Alfa when I'm in the Lekkas Bar in Kassiopi, it's so good. Perhaps its the way he keeps it, if you know what I mean

Hi Davyboy, seems like were exactly on the same page comma and full stop. It's not my imagination either that when I stroll up from Roda to the café neon in Sfakera, They keep Alfa beer icy cold, I don't know how !!! but it is compared to other places, Yammas.

Sadly, I can't drink Corfu beer - just one gives me a splitting headache.

Corfu Beer really affects my hubby's stomach, think it is because it is a "live" beer.

Definitely the beer. We use the water here all the time and are local to Arillas.

The only thing generally common to microbrews that is not common with industrial beers is filtering. Most microbrews are not filtered, they rely solely on gravity and time to clear the beers. What they are clearing is protein. They will add a coagulent which causes the proteins to mass in to clumps which drop more quickly out leaving clear beer.

Industrial breweries don't have the luxury of time (not that microbrews have that much time either), so they will filter their beers. The difference here is that filtering will also strip the yeast.

So it could be that you have an allergy to yeast.

Jimmy's bar in Lakka, Paxos sells Corfu Beer on tap. Other half had to stop drinking it as it was giving him a stinking hangover whereas he can drink Alpha or Mythos til the sheep come home with no such effect.
Best Alpha beer we've had was in Petrino's bar in Paleo, icy icy cold glasses, perfect!
