Going to Zante Friday. Staying in St Johns Villas, Tsilivi. Anyone stayed there or recently been to Zante? Missing Corfu but having 2 year break as promised ourselves after going for 15 years, went to Rhodes last year and not disappointed. Back to Corfu next year, usually stay Sidari, Roda. How is it out there?

I had a very enjoyable holiday in Tsilivi a few years ago but I still return to Corfu. Enjoy your holiday on Zante as I am sure you will.

Thank you Colin for your reply. Was apprehensive having a break but teenage children and they have both had a choice the last 2 years so we get to choose next year and guess where we will pick, CORFU missed it terribly but enjoyed Rhodes last year and sure we will enjoy this one, youngest has just left school, going to 6th form though, now that schooling out the way and no going in expensive term time me and hubby can have a few more hols until UNI, oh the joys!! x yammas!

I really enjoyed my holiday in Tsilivi, great sandy beach and lots of great places to eat. Avoided their equivalent of Kavos. Also visited Rhodes, stayed in Pefkos, fantastic people there. Once again avoided their equivalent of Kavos. Found the trip from the airport to Pefkos an eye opener, the black, bare volcanic rocks, wondered what I had let myself in for. The wonderful green island of Corfu wins hands down for me over other Greek locations every time.

Actually, Laganas in Zante is a bit of a joke as the noisy strip of bars is really quite small when compared to the likes of Kavos and Malia.  And Kalamaki, at the far end of the long beach, is quite a nice spot.  Although you can end up a fair way from the beach.  Then again, that's true of Tsilivi.  I found the hotels of Tsilivi all a bit packed in and crowded.  Alykes and Alikanas, further north, are more relaxed.

Thanks guys but don't need to worry about hotels being packed as having a villa with pool and pick car up at airport when we land, first time to Zante and have teenage lads and husband who are looking forward to their little trip to Laganas. Been to Corfu for 15 years and never ventured to Kavos, went to Crete and never ventured to Malia by choice, now they are older have to compromise. Don't like it too quiet we quite enjoy Sidari or Roda and like to drive to the quieter spots in the day. Can't wait, thanks again for replies.

Hi Sedgi,
Please post when you get back how you get on and what you think of St Johns Villas  as we are looking at these villas for late September, would love to hear your opinion as we love Corfu too but fancy a change. Have a great holiday.

I will be interested in what you think of Tsilivi. I stayed there way back in 1990 when it was still a relatively small resort. Some fantastic eating places then and beautiful beach. Ventured back during the day in 2002 and was disappointed to see how much it had grown; I couldn't find my way around and didn't really recognise much!

I really hope you enjoy your stay in Zante, sadly I would not return there (having been twice) as our holiday roots are well and truly planted in Corfu!

What can I say, absolutely amazing villa at St Johns in Tsilivi. Stayed in Apricot Villa had two massive bedrooms with on suite bathrooms was met at airport by Loouise from Thomson with the car and ice cold bottles of water, lovely touch. Massive lounge and the pool all to our selves was fab especially coming back at night a few Mythos by the pool had a barbecue a couple of nights. The place was spotless, sea views amazing from the two massive balconies.

Went to the shipwreck viewing point, turtle spotting saw a massive Carretta turtle, found the most amazing craft village up in the mountains where we had large Mythos and brought some honey, people friendly and amazing.

Alykanas was lovely was like broughton on the water in the Cotswolds but in the sun, went to argassie another lovely place.

Marathomisi island was great had to walk across sea on wooden bridge where there is an amazing tavern.

Tsilivi is great, plenty to do clean and a special thank you to all at Calypso for all the free puddings and Metaxa,

Was going to Corfu next year but may change our mind if we can get the dates here, sadly not available when we want to go at the minute,

But won't be disappointed if we go to Corfu, have give it a miss the last couple of years and apprehensive but not disappointed and got all these extra memories of beautiful places.

Any one thinking of these Villas please try them,

Happy Hols to all still waiting to go.

Thank you, was amazing. Please try if you can, we love Corfu and have been for last 15 years but was scared to make the break, glad we did. Still miss and love Corfu but nice to see different parts and exciting visiting new places, Zante is still one of the Ionian islands so green and just as beautiful. There is a whole world out there to explore and Corfu will still be there.

Went to Rhodes last year and fab memories too at Pefkos Village resort will try to book St Johns next year if we can get dates if not may try Kefalonia as also one of the Ionian islands want to go to Corfu but promised our selves a break and enjoying it.

The last 2 years we went to Corfu were a little disappointing as much as we love it hence the decision for a change, want to go back but so much more to see in the Greek islands.

Want to see them all and get as many memories as possible.

Happy hols to all x

We are also lovers of Corfu been going years, Kassiopi is our favourite place, anyway we took the plunge and booked St Johns Villas for end of September for two weeks and we have also booked Apricot Villa so you can understand why we are so pleased to see you loved it! Thanks for posting its put our minds at rest now.

Glad you enjoyed Zante, Sedgi. Having re-read my previous post I'm sorry if it sounded so negative. My first visit to Tsilivi was a really great holiday and although we didn't enjoy our second visit it is still a very beautiful island.

My outstanding memories of the last holiday are the shipwreck viewing point and the boat trip looking for the loggerhead turtles.

As for us, we will stick with Corfu for now although it may be time for a change for a year or two.

Hi Sedgie, well just had our first week and agree with you 100%, Villa complex amazing and cleaners every day never been known! Also tried Calypso last night on your recommendation and have never seen a pork chop so big in my life :-) We got free Ouzo though and its not to my taste so hubby ended up with two glasses, also weather been brilliant 27-28 degrees every day, hope it continues for second week.

Forgot to ask have you been to craft village and shipwreck and Alykanas and Zante town also did you find the Panoramic taverna with the amazing view, so excited for you. Did you go to Lydle and have you had a Barbi? Wish we could go next year but too expensive as have to go August as kids at school and uni. Looked at next year nearly 6000 so booked Corfu Paradise apartments 2 bedrooms, stayed there before, they are amazing too if you fancy Corfu. Got a good deal with Monarch 1900 and is coming up at 2700 with Thomson and Thomas cook. Will return to St Johns when do not have to go in main season.

Enjoy your last week xx
