Many thanks - always one eye on the next Acharavi fix! Lots of independent ways of getting there, but always a hundred quid extra and doesn't help living in east Anglia and being ripped off with Norwich flights.

Try being ripped off with Newcastle flights!

We are having to go to Leeds...first time in Acharavi, we normally go to Roda, but got a cheap late season package.

But a week anywhere in Corfu is better than nothing! Smile

We also live in East Anglia but opt to travel to Gatwick and fly with good old easyJet as will not pay the exorbitant costs at Norwich airport.

I envy the prices that Jet2 offer but with all the travelling to their chosen airports there is no saving plus they give you 22kgs of hold luggage and 10 kgs cabin luggage - also notice that the big two (T.Cook & Thomson) are getting crafty and not including transfers in their prices.

Following on from my May post - visited travel agent today and the 3 apartments that were in this years brochure are still not available with Thomas Cook?? Anyone know if they gone independent as they aren't with Thomson either and would have thought by now they would be with someone - looking to go from Norwich or Stansted - any help appreciated.

Although not specifically about any particular property, we tend to forget that the familiar big names in tourism are competing with foreign companies, particularly Russian and Eastern European companies in Greece, for properties to attract their clients.

Also many accommodation owners are now reluctant to place their properties with travel operators due to ridiculous amount they are paid per person (often as low as 5 euro per night). Popular apartments have enough repeat business from regular clientele - so contact them direct.

I can confirm that the Tassos Pool and Apartments have now gone independant and can be booked via their website.

Finally got an answer from Thomas cook that they aren't working with the Eriva next year and looked on various independent sites and they not signed up with anyone so they must be going it alone? Unless you guys know any different.

Just back from Eriva and the word is that Thomas Cook have dropped them as they weren't getting enough people booking the trips. The problem is that nearly everyone there are return customers, so less likely to book anything.
I think they are planning on going independent. But don't quote me on that one.

That's the message I got from travel agents - shame as so much easier doing the package instead of all the bits when going independant.

Going independent is no major problem. Been doing it for years. Book flight with budget airline as soon as they are released, then book accommodation and taxi for transfers. Sorted. x

Must admit, I prefer going independent as well. Only went with Thomas Cook as there was no independent alternative for Eriva. Works out a lot cheaper for us as well.

Usually book via Travel Republic and always find them cheaper than the big 2, the flight is with Ryanair and they have been excellent from Edinburgh, transfers are with Lord Travel at a good price and stay at Matoula which is always 1st class, well worth a look.

Have e mailed Eriva today to check availability for next year so hope they reply quickly so can book flights?? Having never gone independent I guess you need accommodation first? Correct me if I'm wrong and need flight first.

Good idea to book accomodation if you have a preference but bear in mind the days flights arrive from your preferred airport.
Most flights for next year will be released September/October and if you are looking at Easyjet or Ryanair the times/days generally stay much the same each year. Keep an eye on the forum and someone will always post when flights are released. Easyjet Gatwick are generally the first.
